On Drawing vs Doodle, I think it's when intention enters into it. That intention might only happen at the tail-end of the doodle, but as soon as the artist has an idea of the personality behind the art, there is character development.

OC has always been such an interesting term, to me. At its core, anything that isn’t fanart is an OC. Though even fanart characters are original to someone. I guess it’s really just a flag to say “I created this character.” Now what makes a drawing a character and not just a doodle? Oh now THAT’s a real interesting question.

I guess it depends on what you consider to constitute a character? Are the red shirts in Star Trek characters? If so then all it really takes is some sort of defining quality.

I think an OC is any character that someone came up with just for themselves, not for some big publication. A name is probably useful, backstory not necessarily. At least that's what I've seen with most private persons who commission art.

She was drawn for a Patron, yes. Does that make her an OC? I don’t genuinely don’t know. How many times must a character be drawn to be an OC? Does an OC need a name and backstory? These are the questions I ask myself in the small hours of the night.

Ooh, bottomless is such a hot kink <3 Is that someone's oc?
