Filming with Anamorphic Glass aka Lenses.
Added 2024-10-14 13:20:30 +0000 UTCI've mentioned this quite a bit over the year of doing this channel and always forget to get an example image to show you guys, not any more.
I'm currently editing a recent shoot for a client and we filmed on a Cinema Camera with Cinema lenses, Anamorphic glass. The first bent up image is how the lens shows the footage to the camera and then the camera has to de-squeeze the footage as it's captured. This is a x2 de-squeezing. As you can see, it has loads to show on screen once it's been completed and this is how movies have a certain feel to them. We also capture footage with no colour and in RAW.

P.S. This is me telling some German kids not to look at the camera as they walk past. Even a simple non-cinematic shot can look like a movie with the right kit. Wait until I colour it though... YIKES!

Interesting. And very cinematic how it looks like you have one of those spintops balancing on your head ^^ is only a lamp post, though. As someone who has no real knowledge of cameras and lenses and all that, does this de-squeezing happen instantly. Or does it take a while? And does this create 'bigger than usual' data files as the recording as a result? Also, if you don't mind asking, was this only taken/recorded as photos, a photoshoot? Or was it filmed? Meaning, when you say camera, do you mean a photo or video camera you used in this instance?
