Being honest...

Finally on the channel and I like to be honest with you guys. I've now seen enough of a game to share my thoughts and that is I really like it... but I don't love it! I'm really enjoying the story but dislike how it's presented or packaged together.

Do I want to continue with it, heck yeah but damn, I'm frustrated sometimes. This is a great example of why art is subjective and why this Marmite ad is perfect. You either love it or you hate it. If you're from the UK, you're really going to get this.

Plenty of content coming soon!

This is just a suggestion, but maybe you can use this game or sequences of it, to tell us exactly what you do not like or what you would do differently. What exactly makes you think it is not well presented or packaged together? If it is Death Stranding, most comments here seem have problems with the story (which I can actually relate) but you stated you do not, so it must be someting else. I can only speak for myself now, but what I like most about your videos is the opportunity to always learn something new about cinematic arts. And if explained well, who says you cannot learn from "bad" examples? Even when the critique is subjective in nature. Btw. for a second this post reminded me about TLOU2. You either a lover or a hater. :-)

I actually like Vegemite too.

Oh I'm going to stick with it, I never give up on anything! I'm also enjoying the story too.

As an Aussie, I can understand & sympathise with the Marmite analogy. Even if by using our own answer to it (Vegemite).πŸ˜‚

If it is death stranding you are talking about i really hope u continue with it even if u just decide to watch the pre-rendered cutscenes instead.

Nah I feel you. The cinematography is very good in death stranding but the actual game itself is probably one of the most boring I've ever experienced and hideo kojima couldn't make a good script if his life depended on it

Haha I love that most of the comments picked out death stranding 🀣

Thanks for being honest! Death stranding is a medium best experienced firsthand, that includes all the frustration, boredom and tediousness. Even watching it as a "movie" I start to tune out. It's a much different experience when you play it yourself but even I ca understand and accept if a particular storytelling style doesn't resonate with you. I appreciate your dedication to honesty with your parasocial community. Bruvnor 🫠

I like playing Death Stranding because it's relaxing, but if I was there for the story I'd watch a much more condensed version of the cutscenes (like literally just the pre rendered ones, no in-game dialogue). The problem is that so much necessary info comes from the dialogue belts

Death Stranding and Kojima games have never been my cup of tea either. I don’t see him as the god that others set him up to be. Just another creative with some very interesting creative ideas

Man, I truly get it if you're talking about Death Stranding. I finished the game when it first came out, but for dozens of hours, I wondered what the heck I was even playing, and I nearly gave up. The story does get better, especially for the last couple of hours. It's weird but very artistic, full of metaphors, and gives the audience a positive message through a world full of negativity and loneliness. I remember the emptiness that filled me when I finished the journey, but at the same time, I was glad and satisfied. It's a feeling hard to describe. But yeah, this game is not well-paced between gameplay and story. Sometimes you just stand there listening to NPCs' conversations for several minutes, sometimes you need to walk for an hour just to get to the destination. Whether you decide to continue or not, I'm totally with you. If you do, the whole setting and story around Mads Mikkelsen's character is pretty well-written. I think he got the coolest scenes in this game lol (besides some of Troy Baker's scenes), so I'm looking forward to watching your reactions. Anyways, just wanna say I love your content so much! Hope you're having a great day. (Sorry, English is not my native language, I hope people can understand what I was saying. ;)

I'm not surprised. Death Stranding is incredibly exposition heavy, I just replayed it for the third time and even I get annoyed at parts by how it drags and repeats information constantly. With Metal Gear Solid 5 a ton of the exposition was moved to optional audio tapes you could listen to while playing the missions or wandering the world. It was such a smart change because you could choose how much and when you wanted to engage with that and the experience for the player flowed a lot more smoothly.
