EXCLUSIVE REACTION: Interview with the Vampire 2x01

Comments

I would have guessed the "mother of New Orleans" would have been Orleans (in France), rather than Paris, but it turns out apparently it was named for the Duke of Orleans rather than the city itself, who was then the Regent of France (and living in Paris), so Paris it is, I suppose! Re: your comments about killers confessing to certain things and still keeping others secret, that's definitely something that many have done. In particular a number of notable serial killers, as far as I recall. As for why, who knows... probably something to do with psychology and control.

flechesbleues

Oh and... the "zombie vamp" as some call him (The Revenant) is what happens when you go mad and feed on dead blood. Vamps don't die like Louis was told... when a vampire is deprived of blood long enough ESPECIALLY after transformation they will go mad from starvation and feed on corpses which turns them into this... revenants.

ChrisNThings

Hey Benji, Just to let you know... stakes don't work against vamps in this universe. If you try to stake a vamp in this world they'd pull it out, laugh at you then kill you LOL I love your reactions guys please keep going!

ChrisNThings

Of all of the IWTV reactions I've seen, you guys easily have one of the best! Can't wait for you guys to react to the rest of Season 2!

I love the new actress for Claudia. She matches the maturity of what Claudia's mind would've been.

Gaby Barrow

Morgan

You’re gonna loveee this season

Briana Shoemaker

Oh brilliant I was really hoping you were gonna continue this show! Bailey Bass was switched out for scheduling reasons I believe because she had to film for the Avatar movies. But the new actress Delainey Hayles did a wonderful job too!

rese

I'm so excited to see you guys reacting to this! Also, they do know how to make vampires, but they've never done it. Claudia tried last season because she wanted a companion but she failed.

Avi

I was SO excited for you guys to get to this season, it's amazing! Delainey does fantastic as Claudia, both actresses perfectly show Claudia at different stages of her life. Bailey was great for Claudia's youth and naivety and her anger. While Delainey shows a Claudia that is older, tired and has been through it all and is more cynaical, but still desperate for companionship. Also in regards to Armand's age, they didn't say it in the recap, but in the Season 1 finale he said he was 514 years old, which is why the sun wasn't affecting him. Daniel's comments to Armand (and some of his comments to Louis in Season1) are definitely microagressions lmao Daniel is funny and smart and a great audience insert, but he suffers from chronic white liberal hypocrisy imo where he thinks that just because he's progressive and well-intentioned, the implications behind his sarcasm and snarkiness is no long applicable. That and/or he just genuinely doesn't care which is another thing entirely lol Louis met and was turned by Lestat in 1910. Claudia was 14 when she was turned, in like 1916-1917! Louis and her attempted to kill Lestat in 1940. At this point, where they are post-WW2, Claudia is in her 40s as it's like 1945 at least. It's not really a matter of them not knowing how to turn people into vampires, they both know how. Louis just has complicated feelings about being a vampire and has no desire to turn anyone else, while Claudia tried in Season 1 when she went on that murder spree, but every attempt failed. It's likely that her being turned as a child made it impossible for her to effectively turn others, almost like a handicap. Jacob Anderson is so good as Louis, between the "I want this to remember scene" where he's crying blood and the "You and me" scene at the end, I'm constantly in awe of how he's brought Louis to life in a way that was not present in either the books or the 94 movie. And speaking of the "you and me" scene, it always gets me emotional because rather than feeling like he's not telling the truth because of Lestat's presence in his mind, it feels like he's caught between the two of them, but meaning every word to both of them. Can't wait for the next episode!

i believe the main reason bailey had to be recast is because she had scheduling conflicts with avatar: way of water which she was also in

Zaria Middleton

Yeah Bailey Bass (the OG actress for Claudia) had scheduling conflicts with her role in this and the Avatar movies she’s going to continue being in. I thought it was an April Fools joke the first time around bc she posted it like a couple of minutes before April 1 😂

Keke

I’m so happy that you guys are doing this season. I finished your reaction to the first season about a month ago, so I’m excited to see your reactions to this one. - Keke (don’t mind the username on this lol)
