Plans for Hex v0.0.9α
Added 2024-10-01 15:00:08 +0000 UTCHex v0.0.9α will come out probably in October sometime. It will not be a huge update, so don't expect too much. Here's what I'm thinking:
Boss challenges in the Throne Realm. You'll be able to rematch with bosses you've encountered in the story so far, both normally and with challenge modifiers.
Practice defenses with Meila in the Throne Realm. Meila will help you practice using your defenses (e.g., deflection) to help you figure out the timing or help calibrate the screen, and will also offer defense challenges.
Completing both types of challenges will grant a new currency players can use to exchange for unique rewards.
Skinship/cuddling with Meila in the Throne Realm.
Additional CG artwork, maybe some outfits.
A live event! Basically I want to test my ability to send you game content via the server and see how it goes. So a small, temporary event will come to the game.
Technical changes that I will be testing in this update:
Introduction of a server configuration system that will allow me to calibrate various game systems and game balance remotely through the server. I will be experimenting with this system throughout v0.0.9α, which may cause instability or bugs, so be aware.
Introduction of a basic server-based plug-in system that will allow me to remotely add arbitrary content to the game. This will be the first step toward support for an online content service. It will also be an integral part of future mod support. This will be tested in the aforementioned live event.
Expansion of the game's CDN system to further distribute asset loading across a larger and more reliable infrastructure.
As mentioned, this update will be for patrons only. None of these points should be taken as absolute promises. Since getting SS v1.0.0 out is still my number one priority, I will skip anything that becomes to bothersome and put it off until later to stay on some kind of decent schedule.
This will be the last version of the Hex alpha. Versions after this will no longer be alpha versions, and the game will move into "full" development starting early next year with v0.1.0! The game is also being renamed to Hex: Becoming a Succubus, though I'll still generally just refer to it as Hex. I also considered Hex: A Succubus Story, because I like the acronym Hex: ASS.
