Test Build Alpha v.0.1.4

Hello hello Everyone!

and welcome back to Targa Florio!

As always, I hope you and your family are safe and healthy.

I've been taking chinese herbal medicine lately for my stomach, since my gerd been acting up again lately. But it got better now. I just got to reduce my coffee and cigarette! haha

Anyway, it's been a frustrating month. I had to redone the building textures since it was not working as I hope it would.

At first, I tried creating texture atlases for the buildings but the progress has been disgustingly slow. And the result was not that good.

There are almost 2000 buildings in this track, most of them are handcrafted unique buildings, so the conventional texturing method won't work.

That was why I created texture atlases by category, and it lead to the problem I mentioned earlier.

After simulating and experimenting a bit, in the end I went back to basic tiled texture method, since the trade off between draw call and result was much better. Batch size might suffer a bit, but so far the impact is very small, so I'm quite optimistic with this one.

I would need to add decals to break the tiling and added some details later on.

but the work speed has improved drastically! :D

The texture still need a lot of adjustment. They are only basic texture for now, no specular or normals just yet.

other that that, I also replaced few buildings in Cerda. And I bet you will definitely notice the difference :D

Also, Beni continued his work on the road signs along the way up to Collesano.

All these models and texture still need to be optimized later.

aaaand here it is, the Test build alpha v.0.1.4

I hope you enjoy the track!

and as always, stay safe, stay healthy

Cheers!

Fantastic. I only found your Patreon site today. I have been using the old Race Department version up until now. Amazing progress. Love the train! The trees are great and the buildings are going to look great. The road signs are a real help but I would like a hairpin sign please for those unexpected car killers lol Good luck on this amazing project. Thank you a lot!

just about to indulge :D
