Happy New Year, and rF2 version update 0.25

Hello helloo everyone, and welcome back to Targa Florio!

First of all, of course, Happy New Year! I hope 2024 has been kind to you, and 2025 will bring you closer to your goal and happiness

I suppose 5 days should be enough to sober up? XD How was your New year's eve? I hope it was fun and wonderful night, whoever you spend it with, or whatever you do. Maybe watching fireworks out there on the hill with your lover (yes, I'm looking at you, B), or just simply eating pizza and watching youtube at home lol.

Well we're gonna start 2025 with an update for the rF2 version.

In this update, we finally got the Real Road setting! After a few attempts -where some of it had half of the grid DNF- we're finally got a 20 grid race where everyone actually finished a 15 laps race! it's a matter of car selection, AI difficulty, and aggressiveness setting.

Also in this update, I've sorted out a bug in the timing that caused an incorrect lap counts.

Although unfortunately, 3D grass is still not available right now. I've pinpoint the problem but so far we don't have a solution for it yet. So we will have to put this issue aside for now and focus on the new scanned version.

You can download the Targa Florio rF2 version 0.25 here

Now that we're kicking off into 2025, I want to share a bit of the plan going forward.

Obviously, the main focus would be the scanned version. You tried the preview, and we're happy that it has good feedback overall. But it is still far from what we envisioned. there are still more potential that can be extracted from the scan data.

As for the scenery, We've also discussed on things that need to be changed from the current version, how they can be improved and will it works on the sim itself.

Overall, I think I can confidently say, you can expect a lot from this new version. Even I expect a lot from it XD

Also, there is another thing that I want to share, which is not directly related to Targa Florio.

Some of you may not now yet, that I am working for an E-Sport team called Legion of Racers. It is a proper job with monthly salary, working 9 to 5 like the usual Office work.

But I'm not an E-Sport driver. Hell no, I'm too slow for that XD. But if you watch SRO, ERGP, and other sim racing competition, you might have heard of Dillan Tan and Andika Rama Maulana. these two are our top drivers. We even competed in the Virtual Lemans 24H with Max Verstappen! (with same issue and result as the Redline team, unfortunately)

As for me, I work in the kitchen lol. I create digital content for the team. That includes, of course, track mods.

Some of our tracks that are available for free are Orchard Road Street Circuit, Semanggi Interchange Street Circuit, and Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit. And just a few months ago we've released our latest track, the Singapore Sports Hub Street Circuit. It is still in early access to Legion of Racers' Patreon members, but it might become available for free later this year. If you tried Orchard Road in Rennsport, that was my work as well :D

Kuala Lumpur Street Circuit

Aside from that, we've done a few private track mod based on request, including the 2023 World RX Hongkong Rallycross track.

There are two track mod project running right now. The Aseana Street Circuit in Manila, which will be used in Hyperdrive Cities Championship this year, and the Singapore Highway Project.

The Singapore Highway Project is quite an ambitious project, a semi open world track covering the entire Singapore's highway network with a total drivable road of 600km, and it will include the parts where the Singapore GP took place as well. We expect this will be a good track to drive on Assetto Corsa Evo, which should be available for modding next year.

Singapore Highway Project

Both Aseana Street Circuit and Singapore Highway Project are available for LOR's Patreon members. Please do check out LoR's page here, as we also has some free tracks.

So, what is the relation of all this to Targa Florio? Well, almost none, really. Since it is my daily job with a normal working hours, I usually work on LOR's track from 9 to 5, take a short break and have dinner, then working on Targa Florio until it's time to sleep.

If there's a relation at all, then I have an advantage on things that I learned on my daily job can be used in working on Targa Florio and vice versa :D

There we go, the so called plan for 2025 XD. I hope this year will be kind to all of us. Challenge and difficulties will definitely come along the way, but it is what it is. Right now, I'm fired up to get all these tracks out there. I love what I do and I really enjoy making these tracks. And it is my ambition to make Targa Florio a masterpiece in the world of sim racing.

Next planned update will be the revised scanned version, with finalized road mesh for the section.

Until then, take care, I wish you health, wealth, and safety in these interesting times.

Thank you!

Is there a setting that will keep the small grass plants from glowing? Trees look good though. Thanks
