Posted very late, as is often the case with me, but in my defense I had something came up today so I had a reason beside laziness and lack of writing determination to be kind of slow. I hope you all enjoy it anyway. :)

2023-09-23 08:50:54 +0000 UTCIt's a little shorter in terms of word count than the first four chapters were, so maybe that's why. I didn't think about most of these questions. :) But the purpose of these rooms is mostly storage - they're meant to hold food, wine, tools, spare clothes, whatever is necessary and not immediately needed in the palace above. It also holds a treasury room when the king keeps his gold coins and gems, which is why he was extra anxious to get the rift out of there. He can (and did) moce the treasury elsewhere, but having it beneath the palace is nice and defensible, especially since he can inspect it often to make sure the contents don't disappear.

One thing I was wondering in this chapter - what is the layout of the palace basement, from a tactical point of view? How far before the hall splits? Are there other side rooms? How many exits? What is the purpose of these rooms? How durable are the walls?
