November 2023 Update!

Apologies for a lack of updates! To be honest, not a whole lot has happened over the course of October. That said, I have a sort of announcement to make regarding the engine and framework being used in our fighting games.

You may know that we're continuing to use Unity, even after that whole debacle a month or so ago, but what you may not know is that an update to the framework we're using is coming soon.

We're building our game off of Universal Fighting Engine version 2.4, which is fairly outdated as is. I was satisfied with the drawbacks it has because updating to 2.5 did not have enough improvements over the custom alterations I had made to the engine. HOWEVER, UFE 3.0 just went into a closed beta and it seems to have a LOT of things that I'd want to have, stuff like multiplayer lobbies, better input handling code, and overall a lot of things that are just impossible with how 2.4 is setup. It'd likely take a while to reimplement all the new additions I made to UFE into 3.0 whenever it comes out, but I think it'll be worth it!

Additionally, it seems like my (Starcutter's) current work contract is finishing up soon, so progress on Blueblood should pick up again once that's over! Ideally it'll line up perfectly for UFE 3.0's release, but that's up in the air for now.

ONE LAST THING! One of our artists, ChaokoCartoons, has been working on his own project! Please go check out KillaFlow's SAGE demo that came out a couple months ago!

I haven't got the chance to play around with it yet but it seems so! Apparently there's even platform fighter support which probably isn't relevant to us but is fun in concept haha
