As they were making their way to the sofa, one of the Bane snuck up from behind, wrapped him in its shiny tentacles, and pulled him to behind the wall. The wide-eyed shock turned to a squinted anticipation.
The tentacles that were wrapped around his body began melting over him; the same substance the Bane were made out of started covering his entire body, inside and out.
Don't be mistaken; he was not their only target that day.
