New Sony Shooting Grip (GP-VPT3) & Wireless Remote Commander (RMT-VP2)

Sony have recently updated their 'Bluetooth Shooting Grip' and 'Bluetooth Remote'. These new updates may have gone under the radar for some Sony Photographers. In the Patron Accessories guide and camera eBooks I have always listed the SmallRig SR-RG1 Bluetooth shooting grip as well as the Sony Shooting Grip. This was primarily because the SmallRig grip had a detachable remote, therefore saving money as you didn't need to purchase a separate remote when travelling without the grip. One downside of the SmallRig grip, however, is how easily the remote can become separated from the grip (I often used an elastic band around the grip to keep the remote in position). Sony's new GP-VPT3 Shooting Grip now has a remote that is a lot more secure. The grip is also a little lighter than the previous version. The new Sony Grip does not have an extending section like the SmallRig version, so the SmallRig grip may still be preferred by vloggers who would like to move the camera a little further away than just arms length.

NOTE > The remote attached to the Sony Shooting Grip can be purchased separately as the RMT-VP2 and the Bluetooth range is now listed as 32.8 feet or 10 meters, which is double the distance of the previous version (RMT-P1BT). The Remote is useful for photographers owning the A7C and A6700 cameras that do not support wired remotes (usually attached via a Micro USB port, and that is now missing on Sony's smaller Alpha cameras).

I am currently traveling with this grip and one of the smaller Sony microphones, that does not need to be connected to the microphone-in jack on the side of the camera.
