The Last of Us (S2:E1) - Full Reaction

Here we go S2! I’m excited for this season because I thought S1 was so incredible, but I'm dreading the conflict and heartbreak that I can feel coming... We are going to try and do this one reaction at a time thing with quick turnaround the day after and see how it goes!

PS: Full schedule/update coming soon!

The Last of Us (S2:E1) - Full Reaction

Comments

Episode 2 is one of the most singular intense TV episodes I have ever seen

Bill Maurer

Good comment. She's 19, so she's nearly past her teen years.

Clay F

Interesting start to season 2. Ellie is a teenager and thinks she needs no one and can do it all herself and she thinks she is invincible. Joel just needs to let her be and wait for her grow up and realize she can't do it all and does need help sometimes and that is okay. Good reaction Cassie. I was surprised how fast you got this out. Good job.

Rick Williams

I like Bella Ramsey in roles I’ve seen her in, but she’s not believable as a bad-ass tough girl. Bad-ass attitude - yes. But physically overpowering people? She’s tiny. That opening - pulling his punches or not- was laughable.

Walter

The Greater Good :D, I personally really enjoyed the second game so am interested in how it will translate to the show. Always difficult dodging spoilers for a show as popular as this so hopefully those of us on here and especially youtube (more lawless i'd say) keep quiet.

Gray

Hence why he's hiding it.

Nathan Jasper, the Artist Formerly Known as Primary

I'm not sold on the whole therapy thing they added - Joel in the game would've cut off his own arm before doing something like that. I like Catherine O'Hara but they seemed to change a lot more just in this first episode that the entirety of season 1.

Odd Thomas

I think you have the correct read on her sir

Cole Jennett

I can't imagine Cassie playing the games? She hasn't played the games right? She doesn't come across as a gamer at all.

John Cranberry

This will be a show.

Jaccob Cortes

Couldn't if I wanted to. Something about killer rabies mushrooms? Or something? Ron Swanson looking sad?

Chris Thom

I really enjoyed this so much. I really only know of characters and some major plot points to this pt 2/season, so excited to see a new story. Thank you to Cassie, Husband, and the crew for getting this out so quick. AND SO HELP ME, IF ANYONE SPOILS ANYTHING!!😂

Ian A

I only played the first video game, season 1 basically. But the game mechanics had a lot of: A) throwing things to make distractions. B) Getting split up and you had to find your way back to the other character.

Brian's Dog

Well part of them pushing to try it is desperation. Its a troupe in apocalyptic stories where after awhile they get desperate to get a cure or some relief.

David Freese

Dan, I think you will like S1. Make sure to watch her reactions along with the S1 episodes.

Clay F

I completely agree with what Joel did to save Ellie in the S1 final episode. I feel for the multiple people who were killed, but they were either responsible or in the way. Some two-bit doctor/researcher likely having no clue about some hypothetical vaccine (or its efficacy) and saying that Ellie needed to die would not have been enough for me. While there may have been some premise from the game for potential sucess for the vaccine, that seems so out there and unbelievable.

Clay F

Doh!! I’m only on episode 3 of season 1! I’ve got some catching up to do. I may be The Last of Us to see this reaction… 🎶 bah da bum 🎶

Dan M

Late last night, I watched the first 15 minutes of S2E1. Now, I just watched the full episode along with your reaction. My son loved the game but I never played and know nothing about the game. Dina is cute. "I don't need your f*cking help." While Ellie seems less likeable, I feel for her. Everything that she has experienced. I have empathy for her. Joel should do an even better job of giving her room -- her independence. Ellie may regret being stand offish toward Joel if Joel is killed. While Joel (her adoptive parent) can have his quirks, he is a great resource. Ellie may be more receptive in a couple of years. Kids age 15-20 often prefer to spend time away from their parents. Natural evolution to gain/learn independence. But can return at say 22+.

Clay F

I know its considered part of the genre but the creatures in the game and the show are not zombies. They don't reanimate after death like Walking Dead, the fungi just take over the hosts body so it can spread and the host dies eventually. Just my 2 cents on the difference. Loved the reaction and hopefully they stick to the game a little more moving forward. 👍👍

David Freese

Eugene's sweet, sticky buds......

Chris Retzlaff

Without any spoilers, I can already say that there are more differences in this episode compared to the game than there were in most of season 1 entirely. Nothing absolutely major so far, but enough differences especially in timeline and order of events that I’m sure interested to see how much they change.

Paul Peavler

Sweeeeeeeeeeet...

Steve Mercier

I was hoping for this as I wanted to wait to watch with you. Off to a good start but tough to see our pair a bit at odds. Worst part is the waiting now.

Canadianant

Glad that Cassie (and many other reactors) are doing this a lot earlier to get responses while the story is fresh in viewers mind. I personally played both games too many times to count and still going back to play EVERYTIME Sony / Naughty Dog put out a new version of remake, remaster, a port, now "complete" or whatever. Pretty much memorized all cutscenes permanently. The adjustments for TV is actually quite refreshing but storyline definitely won't change based on this first episode of season 2.

Tech Citizen

Season 2 just started right? Or has it been out for a while?

Chris Thom

Did the first season stick closely to the story in the game?

Chris Thom

My son loved the game.

Clay F

I genuinely feel bad for everyone that experiences this story for the first time as a tv show and not the game.

aarswft

Wow, another reaction! You are a machine Cassie, I can’t keep up! 😅

Mark White

Very nice surprise, I’m actually going to rewatch S1 first and by then should be 3 or 4 episodes in.

Dean Holt

Backing up The Passion with The Last of Us...Impressive.

Samuel Champ

I'll wait until the season ist complete. And as someone who played the Games I know already whats coming.

The Sheeple

It's not as good as a lot of people make it out to believe. It had some really nice moments last season and I am a huge fan of Kaitlyn Dever and will watch it mainly for her

Bill Maurer

Unpopular opinion here: I dislike this show. I would list my reasons but while I don't like it I wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone. Y'all enjoy it!

SplinterTME

Nice suprise!

Wes

thanks Cassie !!!

Bill Maurer

You go Cassie. Kicking at these reactions. You are the greatest.

Rick Williams

WHATTT!! LETS go!! I'll watch it a fourth time!
