My ancestors came to US from Ireland in the mid-1800s because of the potato famine. When we visited NYC, we took a tour that showed what an Irish immigrant 1800s apartment looked like. An actual apartment in a building restored as a museum.

Not the Irish is historically cor- rect. So many came to USA due to potato famine that some Americans resented them-there were signs Dogs & Irishmen keep off the grass.

A parody of westerns that Cassie and Carly would probably really like but it woujld never win any polls is 'Rustlers Rhapsdy.' More in the vein of 'airplane' but for westerns and a better plotted story than 'Blazing saddle'

My favorite story about the production of this movie is Brooks had written into the contract that WB couldn't make a sequel unless that had first made a TV series. (Cause he knew no network could air such a thing.) years later the studio calls him wanting to make a sequel and he points the contract confident he's got them boxed. They show him 22 episodes of 'Black Bart' produced and filmed but never aired. The contract did not specify it had to be aired. Luckily for Brooks the plans for a sequel fell apart on their own.

Like Cassie, this is one of my less favorite Mel Brooks movies. Not that I hate it or anything, it's got its moments and characters... but I think it's a bit more dated, a bit less tight / more inconsistent, and almost none of it really made me guffaw either when I first saw it or on repeat watching. That being said, sometimes it's fun just to watch Cassie give a movie the old college try, even if it doesn't click… it's an honest attempt at figuring out what to appreciate and that's entertaining too!

Doesn't she have to watch it three times to get a chapeau?

They really didn't miss any opportunity for a joke, right down to the Laurel and 'Hardy' hand shake. Thanks for all you do and have a wonderful weekend!🀠πŸ”₯ πŸŽ₯πŸ§β€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ«Ά

Hahaha!!!🀣🀣🀣 Despite your opinion of this movie, I still enjoyed your reaction to it! I laugh my head off every time I watch this movie and it never gets old! I'm glad that on some levels you did find it entertaining and funny in some places lol! I'm glad you at least got to watch it once! Have a good weekend Cass, hope the book club is going well, hope you'll consider my recommendation for lunch at the Crab Cooker it's awesome! Love and support and God bless y'all and the familyπŸ₯°πŸ˜‡πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ€—πŸ˜‰πŸ‘βœŒπŸŒΉ

Or Zardoz. Crap film, but Cassie's GOT to see Sean Connery in that outfit.

Clarence Newman

1974 was a good year for films about stuff that's ablaze, Cassie. You now need to watch Towering Inferno.

Clarence Newman

Lily von Shtup is doing a perfect parody of Marlene Dietrich. Maybe you should see The Blue Angel [Original title: Der blaue Engel] 1930. You'll enjoy it a little more than this, even though it's a musical drama.
