Hi pop club! Hope you are doing well and had a good weekend! I feel like I am still in catch up mode from the craziness of May but we have had a couple good pool days, made a summer chore chart (dreaming I know) and already gone through way too many boxes of popsicles!
I decided to watch all 4 of the Based on a True Story Poll Winners! I love movies based on true events and I feel like we are still getting a good mix of drama, war, comedy and marky mark ;) I saw the suggestion someone had of doing a poll of the run offs of each poll for the second placers but is that too much truth? I am starting with Deepwater Horizon and will add in the other winners in coming weeks!
Speaking of Polls-with Father's Day coming up, I want to do a dad's poll-but since in the last 4 years I have now watched pretty much all of my dads fav movies-I thought we could do movies that are based on dads? or a strong fatherly message in a movie? do we have any of those left-ala Field of dreams kind of thing? It is also Ben's birthday in June so I want to do another poll of some of his favorite movies I haven't seen yet!
Well since it is a new month-you know what that means?! NEW PICK-A-FLICK draw woohoo! Let's do it tonight! Like 8pm MST? Who is going to be there? Can't wait!
Carly is home and has a glowing tan from Costa Rica and so we can finally finish our POTA journey-I am going to go watch the Tim Burton one for funsies though!
Only two YT edits this week as our amazing editor is on a much deserved vacation!
Anyone have any fun vacation plans this summer? or staycations? Anyone watched anything good lately? We saw Lilo and Stitch and I thought it was great! I also started The Studio and it is a fun, different kind of show! I still want to see Thunderbolts? Do you think I should watch it on the channel? I'm behind on Marvel...

2025-06-27 01:31:07 +0000 UTCVery good film. Paul Dano was amazing in it, but then again he's amazing in every role he plays. But playing Brian Wilson must have been quite the honor for him. John Cusack playing older Brian I didn't really get that casting choice other than a "bigger name" maybe. I don't know I never understood that casting choice.. but Paul Giamatti killed it in this film as well.

2025-06-08 22:27:24 +0000 UTCMI FAMILIA, I consider it a Father's Day movie because it's a family movie, and I love the dad's little speech at the end. It's a sprawling epic of multiple generations in a Mexican American family that I personally really relate to, but it's also full of humor and emotion. Highly recommend. Oh I forgot, Francis Ford Coppola was a producer on it, and Jennifer Lopez is in it too.
