One the best MCU movies ever.

Well said.

The treatment of returning Vietnam vets was reprehensible, and started with the anti-war crowd. Interestingly, this treatment ultimately became perhaps the single issue the wake of the war did address successfully, although it took until the early 1980s for it to begin: Honoring vets on their return from war zones. Also, Korea began and Vietnam continued two phenemenon which should not be allowed in our republic: 1) Undeclared wars (as opposed to, say, a single-action military engagement). 2) Entering wars with no clearly stated parameters for victory, or no goal of victory at all. As the real Eugene Sledge (Cassie saw him in "The Pacific") said in the 2001 documentary "Hell in the Pacific": "The front line is really where the war is, and anyone even 100 yards behind the front lines doesn't know what it's like. And everytme I hear people talking about sending people into combat, I just cringe to myself because these people who send them have no concept of what hell is."

I thought that this was another great reaction on a difficult topic! Cassie’s reaction made me think of this song from the early 70’s (I think that she will like this song). Edwin Starr- War (What is it good for)….. https://youtu.be/ztZI2aLQ9Sw?si=guilFblCx7Jv6vUL

I never knew Estevez did so much work behind the camera. Someone on here was saying one of the movies he directed was his all time favorite.

Chris Thom

That attitude is half admirable, half frightening. Lots of ways to serve a nation and community that doesn't involve killing. Or getting involved in other nations' internal affairs. Just being a gun for hire risks exploitation by any psychopath that comes along with a vendetta.

The only thing holding it up is copyright, Tim. Ben is doubtless busting his butt as we speak.

Clarence Newman

So I guess you disagree with both the Academy and the Golden Globes. --Won Golden Globe for Best Picture (Drama). --Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score), and Best Writing (Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium). --Oliver Stone won Oscar for Best Director.

Excellent movie. Thanks for the reaction. "Don't you know what it means to me to be a Marine, Dad? Ever since I was a kid I've wanted this - I've wanted to serve my country - and I want to go. I want to go to Vietnam - and I'll die there if I have to."

Watched it for the first time along with Cassie. As a Navy vet, I can't say the movie did much for me, but the reactions are always great.

Just no. I avoid this movie like the plague. I don't care about Tom Cruise, and it all started when he jumped on Oprah's couch like a you know what. I can't stand this anti-Vietnam war protester veteran that he plays. The War at Home (Emilio Estevez co-wrote it, starred in it and directed it) is a much better movie or hell, even Platoon is better than this garbage.

Democratic National Committee?

Hooray for Everything

Very emotional Movie about a very turbulent time in history Tom Cruise did a magnificent job Oscar worthy as far as I’m concerned.

Doc Larry

DNC? Maybe?

Carol Rocha

Wow! Kyra Sedgwick!! So young!

Carol Rocha

Great reaction as always Cassie.

Stuart Guthrie

Being of Vietnamese descent, the war was a huge waste of lives and treasure, for all sides. This was because we could have had a unified Vietnam, under the Geneva accords of 1954, with a free and fair election. However, the US pulled out of that fearing the super popular Vietminh, under the communist leader Ho Chi Minh, would win the election overwhelmingly. What was the result? a decade of war and we ended with a North Vietnam victory anyway.

Kawaii Leonard

Will you watch Thunderbolts?

WackyJacky

This is one of those instances where a great performance is wasted in a mediocre movie. Tom Cruise is great, but the film is just mid, at best.

Stranger2Reality

Probably too much nudity for her to put on YT.

Stranger2Reality

She loves her boy Tom. Cocktail, really? What about that Mummy movie he made. 🤣

Joe J

Talk about a long delivery! :-)

Happy Hanukkah

I imagine it was tough to see your Tommy boy in such a role, but never fear, a solution is here. Cocktail (1988).

Clarence Newman

Will we be getting the YT eddit of "Charlie Wilson's War" anytime soon?

Timothy Fisher

I hope your 4th of July was awesome Cassie!
