"THE KILLING FIELDS" (1984) (based on true story). Nom 7 Oscars incl. Best Picture. RT 93%, RT Audience 91%. Malkovich 14 years younger than in Rounders. B. "EMPIRE OF THE SUN" (1987) (w/13-yr old Christian Bale) (nom 6 Ocars). Came in 4th place in the Spielberg poll losing by only 5 votes to the 3rd place Duel (1971): Spielberg Poll (top 7) 1. Bridge of Spies (2015) - 268 2. A.I. (2001) - 255 3. Duel (1971) - 243 *4. Empire of the Sun - 238 5. The Color Purple (1985) - 170 6. Always (1988) - 154 7. Amistad (1997) - 153

2025-07-20 04:29:23 +0000 UTCCassie, if you want to see John Malkovich in a role you will like, try "Places in the Heart" (1984). Sally Field, Danny Glover, and a very young John Malkovich. I've mentioned this movie to several reactors, but you more than anyone will love it. Sally Field won her second Oscar for this performance.
