[YT Edit] Man of Steel (2013)

Hey guys! Here is the YT edit for "Man of Steel" which will premiere in a bit!

Comments

As a kind loving empathic father who wants to protect his son?

Michael G

Has she worn it before?

Chris Thom

Cassie! Where is your Superman T-shirt? I know someone sent you one!

bgb1975 (Brian)

I hope it’s just BvS, Justice League and Wonder Woman. But if the views are there we may have to put up with all of them. If it’s good for the channel I can suck it up

Cole Jennett

Nope, nope. Too many films on there that might beat Cannonball Run. If it ever gets on a poll, it needs to be stacked like the Tarot deck in Live and Let Die.

Clarence Newman

Cassie, just for fun! Here is Flash Gordon in a poll with a few other, let’s say “unique”! movies: Rocky horror picture show 1975 At the Earths Core 1976 Flash Gordon 1980 Cannonball Run 1981 Masters of the Universe 1987 Crazy stuff! 😉😆

Mark White

Are you crazy, Montana? The soundtrack alone is enough to shoot the tv with a bazooka.

Clarence Newman

Cassie, just been thinking about other superhero movies that might bring decent numbers on YT and probably the ultimate in the “Guilty pleasures” Category popped into my mind! “FlashGordon” 1980 Can someone tell me if Cassie has seen this? I think it should get 100k on YT and it would make for a, let’s say, a interesting reaction! 😆

Mark White

Cassie, good reaction. I’m not a big fan of the Snyder verse, unlike the Infinity Saga which I loved. But, you are currently sitting on 158k views in next to no time! So I think you are going to have to carry on with these movies for the sake of your channel.

Mark White

Finally out of the slump eh? 😂

Anthony Carlson

One hundred and forty eight thousand views in less than two days! Congrats!

Chris Thom

But that's the point, it's showing the real impact and how hard it would be to be a hero in such circumstances, as a new hero.

Kyle

The overall destruction during the fight gets to be a bit much in this film, but I do like Henry Cavil as Superman. Looking forward to watching the new movie.

VirtuallyVeronicka

Besides looks and money, what's Cavill really got going for him, lol?

Joe J

I do like the way Cassie and Carly interact. It's as if they're sisters. I'm not sure I like Cavill though. If he ever turns up at my door, my wife has assured me I will be homeless.

Clarence Newman

Man of Steel over 100k views on YT in 18 hours. She'll be watching Batman vs Superman and Justice League...bet on it.

Joe J

How I would vote superhero movie in poll to occupy a coveted reaction slot. No – Superman 3 (1983) = IMDb 5.0, RT 29% (audience 23%) No – Superman 4 (1987) = IMDb 3.7, RT 10% (audience 16%) No – Batman v. Superman (2016) = IMDb 6.4, RT 28% (audience 63%) No – Justice League (2017) = IMDb 6.0, RT 39% (audience 67%) Yes – Justice League (2021) = IMDb 7.9, RT 71% (audience 92%) Yes – Wonder Woman (2017) = IMDb 7.3, RT 93% (audience 83%) No – Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) = IMDb 5.4, RT 57% (audience 73%) No – Watchmen (2009) = IMDb 7.6, RT 65% (audience 71%) Yes - Batman (1966) = IMDb 6.5, RT 80%, RT Audience 62% Maybe – Batman Forever = IMDb 5.4, RT 39%, RT Audience 33% No – Batman & Robin = IMDb 3.8, RT 11%, RT Audience 16% Rewatch Nolan Trilogy Yes – Batman Begins (2005) = IMDb 8.2, RT 85%, RT Audience 94% Yes – The Dark Knight (2008) = IMDb 9.0, RT 94%, RT Audience 94% Yes – Dark Knight Rises (2012) = IMDb 8.4, RT 87%, RT Audience 90%

Clay F

She has reacted to 4 Superman movies and plans to react to Superman (2025), thus making 5 Superman reactions on the channel. I think any other (additional) Superman movies should win a poll before being given a coveted reaction slot.

Clay F

Evil?

Chris Thom

This version of Superman just doesn't work for me, especially the way Johnathan Kent is depicted.

Daniel Turbyfill

The extended cut is far better than the theatrical. It’s still needlessly convoluted, but I enjoy it so much more.

Blake Evans

I think that Superman III gets a lot of undeserved hate. Possibly because of the known schism and falling out between Richard Donner (director of Superman I) and the producers, which is understandable. But Superman III had some good stuff - the angle with Lana Lang, and the introduction of "red" kryptonite. I'm curious - are there any fellow nerds here that are familiar with the early Superman comics (from the 50s and 60s) and "red" kryptonite? Quiz: what effect does "red" kryptonite have on Superman?

bgb1975 (Brian)

The new Superman movie had a comment about the glasses. I had a good laugh.

Stephen Dias

I love all the Supermans. This one seems to be based off "the new 52" comic series which was an update on the character that emphasized his power more and was an attempt to be "real". The one in theaters now isn't better or worse however, its the Silver Era Superman from the 50s and 60s which hollywood thought would be too corny for modern audiences. They were wrong, it really works well still. He loves his mom and his dog and even sees the humanity in Lex Luthor. I have to admit that I prefer Superman as an allegory to how we ought to show up in the world as opposed to just an action figure.

Nicholas Coy

I'm in the minority here, but I liked the Batman vs. Superman movie (extended director's cut). I think the dueling perspectives of Batman and Superman are fleshed out very well, and It's got a great "tech" Lex Luthor. I know people often knock Snyder's darker vision for all of this, but it seems more true to how the world - and especially governments - would react if people like Superman, Batman (and their super friend) showed up.

Above Average Dave

That's neat. How long were you on set?

Chris Thom

1st movie I was ever an extra in …thanks for this @popcorninbed bc I’ll take another look and see if my friends and I are in this movie …last I checked I didn’t make that cutting room floor. It was funny meeting Henry Cavill & Fishburne though

LongGiang Le

Great reaction both. If you are intending on watching Batman v Superman watch the extended cut. I really enjoyed B v S extended cut. Also a note on justice league do not watch the theatrical release of justice league. Watch the Snyder cut.

Kevin O'Donnell

I enjoy this movie more now than I did when it first came out on DVD.

Chris Thom

I mean...I'm not mad at it. Lol

Chris Thom

I think she watched it for the channel. She was just talking about it the other day. She said she wished she could redo that reaction or something similar.

Chris Thom

I enjoyed it. Thought it shook up the franchise in a good (needed) way. Wish Snyder could've finished JL 2 and then handed it over to someone new.

Chris Thom

Smallville was an amazing series! Loved it and they used a lot of teen versions of DC superheros, Flash, Aquman, Green Arrow

Jayson Phillips

Thoughtful of the ladies (editor) to leave in both of Superman’s shirtless scenes. Wonder who approved that decision? Great work ladies

Bill Maurer

Great video. Thanks guys. As far as the Superman/Kent glasses thing. You should look up why Clark Kent's disguise works on youtube. There are alot of different theories that are really interesting. From hypnosis to people just being face blind in our everyday life.

Ian A

Ok. I need to them watch Batman V Superman the Ultimate Cut. Which I think is way better than this movie. Then the Snyder cut of Justice League. The problem with this movie is that Superman allows and causes a lot of that destruction to happen instead of manipulating Zod to go elsewhere. The final act of this movie is just soo much slam bang action and non of it really feels like anything. Batman V Superman is very much a response to this.

Stan the Man

I'd recommend seeing the first Wonder Woman movie if you want to get into the DC universe more. I know the Snyder trilogy has a very vocal fan base, but I don't think it's the best first impression of these characters

Neill Shaughness

Definitely in the minority on that

Tyler Hale

It's certainly not the best but there is always Super Returns(2006).

Louis Chapman

I’m probably in the minority, but I’d rather watch the Superman movie with Richard Pryor than any of the Zack Snyder films.

Shad Kanyak

A good movie, but the DCEU screwed up by not making more just Superman mvies with Henry Caville (sp). All people from Kypton will get powers from earth's yellow sun.

William Brownlee

We had to go to Australia to find the all American hero,"I think he's really hot'...that's my favorite line, great to see you both together again. :)

Man of Steel marked the beginning of the DCEU (DC Extended Universe), a series of interconnected films (and later shows) that attempted to mimic the success of Marvel’s MCU. Personally, I think Man of Steel works better as an Elseworlds take on the character, rather than serving as the foundation for an entire shared universe. It wasn’t the right starting point for a connected franchise. WB should have allowed Zack Snyder to tell a self-contained trilogy on his own terms, rather than rushing to build a cinematic universe in an effort to compete with Marvel. The best aspect of Man of Steel for me was Krypton and its history, which mirrors comics like Birthright by highlighting the history of the House of El across time with stunning visuals that evoke each era of Krypton socially and culturally. I could watch a whole Game of Thrones-style show set on Krypton, focusing on all the Houses. But as a whole, Man of Steel is a strong deconstruction of Superman and everything he stands for, told through the lens of a more grounded and realistic world, one where Superman is seen as the first metahuman, and his existence sparks fear and uncertainty. That concept can be powerful when handled as a standalone story or as something outside of mainline continuity, like Injustice or Red Son. But as the first entry in a connected DC universe, it doesn’t really work for me, nor do I think it’s a good introduction to these characters for people who aren’t familiar with the DC universe. Since Man of Steel was the starting point for an entire cinematic universe, it also helped create the perception that DC is dark and edgy, when in reality, DC encompasses a wide range of tones across different eras, writers, and artists. Which you don’t really get in Snyder’s films, since they all tend to share a similar dark tone that applies to the characters as well. Superman and someone like Batman contrast heavily, both in tone and visually, just like Metropolis and Gotham do. But that contrast isn’t something we really see in Snyder’s work, unless you look at the films not directed by him, which tend to offer a more flexible tone for these characters. A great example of contrasting films is The Batman (2022) and Superman (2025). The Batman perfectly captures the essence of Batman and Gotham City. A dark, moody film with its own gritty cinematic style. In contrast, Superman (2025), as you saw in the trailer a few months back, is bright, colourful, and embraces the hopeful nature of the character, with a distinctly comic book-inspired tone. But yeah, as a film, I think it’s alright, not my ideal take on the character, but now that my ideal Superman film, Superman (2025), has been released, I can look back and say, “Hey, that was a unique take on the character, but I prefer this one.” I’m glad you both enjoyed the film though! :D

LittleGalaxyBoy

Superman, was first published in 1938. I always find something good with every interpretation. If you’re able, you should watch the 1950s television version of Superman either on the channel or off it’ll be an interesting experience.

Doc Larry

Too bad the movie didn't make them cry. The post could have been entitled: Women of Kleenex. :-P

Happy Hanukkah

Sweet :) btw I see naked gun is on letterbox but not on YouTube or patreon. Did you really watch that before the channel 😂
