The creator of this show based Squid Game on his own struggles dealing with serious debt amid a national crisis in South Korea. He read a bunch of mangas about people gambling to survive, fantasized about joining such a game to get out of debt, then wrote a script with characters you meet in your day-to-day life. At the time, the idea was too grotesque and unrealistic for South Korean production companies, so he had to put the project aside. This was all in 2009. In 2018, Netflix stated they were looking for the "next Stranger Things". SG's creator pitched his script, the Americans loved it, and Escape Room was left in the dust with 54% on Rotten Tomatoes (vs 83% for SG, as it should).

And Iâm not saying Punisher is bad at all. It just takes a bit to get to the action. With that said, my only wish is that they rewatch the episodes theyâve seen up to this point. They finally watched all of Daredevil, and they only had to rewatch the first two episodes once most of the MCU was done.
