PAGE 9
> Lincoln comes back with a new comic. Lynn mentally hates herself for sabotaging Lincoln's love life. As they walk back home, she tells him that he's not lame (callback to their previous convo) and he'll find a girl for him. Change POV to Lincoln. Not that optimistic.
As you can see, initially in my outline I had Lincoln come back with a new comic. But since on page seven, he promises Lynn to buy her ice cream, I thought it'd be better to deliver on that set-up. Fun fact: did you notice that her ice cream is white and his ice cream is chestnut? The other person's hair color. Little detail.

One thing I've tried to do in these pages (previous ones as well) was to make the sky a little bit more interesting than just a clear, light-blue plain color. It doesn't have any deep meaning, to be honest, it's just to try to make them look a bit more interesting. I've previously had it fully clouded. This time, it's still clouded, but with patches of blue showing every now and then. And I think it's pretty appealing. You'll be the judges, in the end.
I put a lot of effort into the background and the last three panels, as you can see. For the first three, I mostly went for the sequence of them walking together, her stopping, and him turning back. As with other pages, it felt cinematic in my head, and I wanted to show that sequence of actions.
Then there's the second page.
PAGE 10
> Almost everyone's ready to go to prom. Lori's there with Bobby. Lincoln is talking with Lucy. He wonders where Leni and Lynn are. Lucy says the former is helping Lynn. "Helping her with what?" Just then Leni announces they're all ready. Lynn is walking down the stairs. Lincoln looks up.
As you can tell, the outline changed A LOT lol I decided to have Lucy do something else instead (as a little bit of foreshadowing), and it didn't make sense for anyone else to know where Lynn was... Well, okay, of course, it makes sense someone else would know, they live in the same house, but with these things, we authors want to convey familiarity and closeness, so it's not as powerful to have Lana know where Lynn is.
In any case, the change of plans allowed me to have a cute moment between Lincoln and Lola. And I'm always up for that.

As you may have gathered, I reused the background from a previous page with the long establishing shot of everyone. But I had to redraw 11 characters, so I hardly consider it cheating. I made a poll on Twitter asking if it's alright to reuse a background and the majority said yeah, so I don't feel bad about it.
At some point, I considered whether Gavin and Benny should be in the shot or not, but it only makes sense for Bobby to be there cause he lives with Lori and they got there together. Also, I didn't have enough space for them in there anyway lmao
Picking up dresses for everyone wasn't easy. I had to look at a lot of references and the costumes/dresses they've all worn at some point in the series to get some inspiration.
These pages had their unique challenges, but I'm pleased with how they turned out.
I hope you guys liked them too, and that you find these little bits of insight interesting! See you next week!
