RealRTCW XR 0.3.2 - Big EA Update!!

Hello Patrons!

It's time for another RealRTCW XR update for you.. hopefully this one might encourage a few more of you to give it a try as this has had some significant bug-fixes, polish and improvements since the last update that introduced multiview! There's some very satisfying additions in this release we hope you all agree.

There is still plenty to do, however it is reaching the point where it is probably good enough for a proper play through (bar a few issues and missing features here and there).

So.. what's changed?, we'll cut to the chase and list what you can expect from this new build:

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the desktop mirror window - you can now see what you are doing without having to put the headset on
• Fixed the crazy grey washout that would appear when facing certain directions
• Fixed the skybox and the bad stereo effect on the nearby mountains etc
• Restored the proper 6DoF crosshair for supporting weapons and removed the fixed crosshair
• Fixed screen fades and damage blend to affect the whole view (rather than a square in the middle)

Improvements

• Changed the config filename to: realrtcwxr.cfg (to avoid conflicting with the flatscreen game)
• Ensured that cvars are defaulted correctly on first run
• Implemented the Weapon and Item selector (more on this shortly..)
• Implemented usable binoculars (can be found in the gadget selector, bring binoculars to your face to use)
• Implemented weapons with scopes (hold two handed and bring weapon up to look through the scope to activate)

Weapon/Item Selector

So this is probably the most significant of the improvements in this build. It functions very much like the radial menu selectors found in our other ports (that have it). On your left hand, the grip will bring up the inventory/gadget selector (which would be empty on a new game) and using left thumbstick you can switch to the quick save/load menu. The right grip will bring up the weapon selector; if you have only 8 weapons or fewer they will all show up here, however if you have more than 8 weapons then it will switch to weapon bank mode, and you need to use the right thumbstick to cycle through available weapon banks. Time is also slowed when using the selectors to give you a chance to change weapon without taking too much damage.

If you have the binoculars in your left hand for use, you only need to re-invoke the off-hand selector to put them away again.

I think that is largely it for new stuff.. big things remaining on the to do list are:

• Fix emplaced guns
• Dual Wield the colt (and maybe some other weapons)
• Some variant of manual reloading (the scope of this will depend entirely on how complex trying to get this implemented ends up being)

Other known issues

Not listing everything, but a couple of things immediately worth pointing out

• The skybox moves with the view in scoped mode (will be fixed soon)
• The B button will initiate weapon's alt mode, for scoped weapons this will also trigger the scope and aiming is then probably impossible (or a bit nauseating)
