STRAY KIDS SURVIVAL SHOW - EPISODE 4

JYP I WILL FIND YOU

Comments

It's wild when you think that Lee Know had been a trainee maybe 2 months at this point, he passed the basic dance class in 2 weeks (beating the record of anyone else by months) and had stood out enough that Chan who has been desperate to debut for 7 years picked him to include in the team he thought was capable of making that dream happen- and the show seems to suggest that JYP was like 'this guy messed up twice, first singing, then in rap despite only a week of practice, we should eliminate him'. I get it was probably partly all for the show but like, dance is a really key point in kpop and you can learn to sing- look at Taemin- you could easily make him a main dancer and give him intensive vocal lessons and he'd be passable to debut with a minor singing part and shine on the dancing. But I suppose that's the difference of knowing them as people and reviewing them on isolated performances. Plus I am biased because I know now how amazing Lee Know is in all areas, and how stunning his voice is now.

The Pen thing is actually a common way to work on pronunciation with singing and speech. I've mostly seen it when I trained in such things using your knuckle (1 knuckle until you could be understood, then 2, etc.) but a pen also makes sense.

Watching this is so frustrating. Part of my job is teaching the newer employees and like... The way that JYP criticizes the members is so backwards and unhelpful. Even when someone is doing poorly, you need to build their confidence or they will never be able to improve.

JYP: eliminate Lee Know for lacking in rap Also JYP: hey I know you have never rapped before but I’m going to test you on your skills in rapping and you have a week to do it. Me: what the fuck πŸ‘οΈπŸ‘„πŸ‘οΈ

They talk about it here: https://youtu.be/uL47tVkagHg?t=40

Chan being so harsh to Han (and his team) was actually a prank, but Mnet edited out the punchline to make it look like Chan was legit mad, lmao Chan stormed out of the room and came back with a birthday cake. I think that's why he's looking down the whole time he's scolding them, trying not to break

I literally sob every time I remember how later on (after the show) Minho said that the night he was eliminated it rained, and he walked home without an umbrella because he thought he didn't deserve one after letting his teammates down-

Elliott

the reason I can't watch this alone without watching along with you is that I need someone backing me up and cussing out JYP everytime he opens his DAMN MOUTH

Rebecca

no way…yeah when i find JYP it’s OVER

Even knowing they debuted with all 9 members this episode broke me the first time I watched it. And then years later I found out he apparently walked home in the rain because he didn’t feel like he deserved to take a taxi. Jyp and I will have beef for life.

I absolutely feel you on the ending. I got into Stray Kids last year. I watched their songs but never knew their names. When Minho got eliminated, I panic searched google to see if he was still in Stray Kids. This show introduced me to the members but it also made me cry multiple times...

Sherrin

man and it will be worse :D so glad they are together now

how can these make me so nervous even when I know it all turns out okay!? 😭 But aside from that Changbin is really growing on me. I liked Stray Kids before this but I didn't know a lot about them. Seeing his presence and his rap and how he supported Minho especially in the last episode really impressed me.
