STRAY KIDS SURVIVAL SHOW - EPISODE 7

MINHO COME BACK

Comments

If, and thats a big IF, it was planned from the beginning, than it wasnt for views. It was for what this whole show was for: promote his artists. Say whatever you want about this show (and boy do I have a lot to say), it is absolutely genius in achieving exactly what it set out to achieve: promote JYPs artist. IF I hadnt already been invested by the time I first saw this show, I would have certainly been invested afterwards. Theres no quicker way to make an audience sympathetic with a character than to make them suffer and I think in someways JYP certainly knew that and utilised it.

Miriam

From the YG trainees Doyoung and Jihoon are in Tresure (Yedam is a former member), Seunghun is in CIX, Woong is in AB6IX. The other trainees I’m not sure about

Sarah Rittenhouse

they killed all the performances at yg, the talent was so obvious

Rebecca

no you're right. It's quite well-agreed upon that this was all planned and they put the boys and fans through so much emotional turmoil just for the views. That's why many never really forgave jyp and never saw him as "redeemed" for bringing back the eliminated.

sahirawr

Honestly, Im on the fence, I dont think it was obviously a sham. I think on some level he considert bringing eliminated members back from the beginning but I dont know how contiously it was planned.

Miriam

in hindsight and knowing he made it, I think you are dead right! but at the time it was so devastating all the same. It also did seem logical as they repeatedly said he was very new with low experience so I never questioned it back then. But then you find out like he never moved out and still trained with them ect ect. I genuinely do believe he believed it at least, as well as the boys, and maybe this is like super delusional of me but i reckon they "let" chan talk them back into giving him another chance as it would have made skz very very grateful to the company after. Maybe Im wrong but it makes sense

Cosmic Swirly

I saw multiple shorts of the whole "Seungmin cursing during the Maniac tour" saga and Chan getting more and more stressed and it was absolutely hilarious.

Miriam

Fun fact about the battle: Chan was supposed to do a backflip at the end of the dance performance but during practice he landed on his neck and got hurt so he couldn’t do it. He said in a livestream that he was basically half paralyzed during this whole thing 🫠 his dedication is truly unmatched

Paula

Okay, so this might not be a new theory because I'm not really a STAY and just exist on SKZ's periphery, but...ngl, watching this with hindsight, it seems so extremely obvious that the elimination tactic was a sham. It was manipulative. They were definitely building JYP up to be the villain intentionally despite giving him moments of sympathy as a CEO (lol the oxymoron), and they were doing everything in their power to make the audience feel Minho's loss. If this were really a show where they intended to eliminate members, the PDs would have directed the boys to avoid talking about Minho and/or avoided this much footage where they did. Instead, the show takes every given opportunity to make us, the audience, understand how much SKZ *misses* him, how much the team isn't the team they wanted without him. This is Machiavellian to the extreme, but it worked. They took the trainee with the least experience, who people might take issue with debuting so quickly, and they made the whole audience feel deeply protective of him. The audience would be willing to fight JYP to get Minho back--and if they'd fight JYP about him, no one would say that he didn't belong in SKZ.

Risu Alto

I was there too and literally thought it was a joke before he showed up on the screen lmao. At least Seungmin could finally take a little revenge that day by cursing in front of him haha

Elliott

ur jyp mood at the end of this episode was so relatable 😭 he was at skz LA day 1 show i was at for their tour this year and when they announced him so many people exclaimed in anger LMAO

Iris

Hey Cam, I'm watching this video now but wanted to mention you and I share a birthday according to your reaction to the Ateez Guide video. We're both July 14th? Anyway I thought that was pretty cool😎. Cancer's unite 💪.
