NOT ME - EPISODE 1

OUR FIRST THAI BL! WOOHOOOOO !!!

NOT ME - EPISODE 1

Comments

To answer your question about the names, Thai names are really and I mean REALLY long. So a lot of the time, actors, idols, and even normal people will have second names/nicknames that are shorter, and/or are easier to pronounce. For example, Ten from NCT/WayV's name is really ten, but his full name is Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul. The actor who plays White is named Gun, but his full name is Atthaphan Phunsawat. So it's entirely possible that the kids name really is Todd, but a lot of the time thai dramas will just give the characters easier names to help international viewers.

Happy to see you getting into thai bl! Not me is phenomenal! If you're interested in a Thai bl movie (that will make you sob) I'd suggest Paradise of Thorns with Jeff Satur! Take your time coming back healthy and happy queen! We love you 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Omg I didn't expect you to react to Not Me, I'm so happy!!! Fun fact, the drama is loosely adapted from a novel which was originally a GOT7 fanfic lol. As for the "lesson on Thai politics", I think the issues presented in the drama apply to most countries and it's nothing too complicated, but yeah you do have to pay attention to the characters' explanations and debates on these topics to really understand their actions. Hope you'll like it!!

I was planning to rewatch this one so I'm really glad I can use this opportunity to finally do so. Thai BLs have quite a different taste from the korean ones and are definitely bolder, but for me personally it's always either a hit or miss. Not Me is 100% in the "gems" folder tho 😅 It's been said, but Thais go by nicknames most of the time. Apparently sometimes not even friends know each other's full name. Sometimes it's quite funny when one person goes by a normal name (like John ie) and then there's his friend called Peanut. I'd be so creative if I had twins 😂 anyways.. I'm not sure how much research you did beforehand but I'll just mention that they also commonly use the words 'Phi' and 'Nong': Phi is used when you're addressing someone older than you (similarly to Hyung/Noona/Unnie/Oppa and is either used with a name {Phi Black/P'Black} or on it's own). Nong is for someone who's younger than you but you don't have to use it all (similar to dongsaeng in Korean), just call the person by their name. Then there's also 'Khun', which is gender neutral and pretty much means 'Miss, Mr, Mrs..' if you place it in front of a name, it's usually used in formal settings or when you're talking to someone you don't know well. Last but not least there's also 'Hia'; it's pretty much the same as Phi (P'), but it's used when the person you're talking to has Chinese ancestry. However, it's also an insult in Thai 😅 so if you're gonna watch more Thai BLs, you'll probably hear this word used in different situations and settings.

Yasss one of my faves 😭

So Thai people have very long and unique names, so they use nicknames. Sometimes they are just random things like Book, Gun, Beer, Off, etc.
