I forgot to comment on the last episode, and honestly, I don't know if I was just super high(probably) the first time I watched it, but you are understanding the show way better than I did my first watch through. but yeah Nana is basically the secret boss and is forcing everyone into a time loop over and over again until Hikari showed up and changed it all. if Nana doesn't win the auditions, the loop will finally end. I think Nanas voice sounds different because it represents the hidden, kind of insane side of her personality nobody ever sees. I am hesitant to say much more because you are doing a pretty great job following along on your own and I don't want to accidentally spoil. But the "Top Star" concept is based on a famous Japanese theater company that actually has a top star rank. The top star of course gets the lead roles and essentially "steals" the spotlight or "shine" from all the others. That's obviously very exaggerated in the anime, but it is a very real idea.
