Isn't it just amazing how they actually had the two play the solo piece differently. Kaori played rather rushed and stiffly, which Kousaka played perfection, smooth and rounded tones, I could see your face the impact Kousaka's playing had, it stunned you, same with me, I strikes a cord in you that resonates so much. Kaori played well and according to the book, but Kousaka's music has soul in it, it made all the difference in the world. As to the applauding, I think nobody applaud because they were scared to take a side. It was obvious to everyone that Kousaka was the better player, even the listener could hear it, but Kaori is the senpai and nobody wants to go against her. You don't go against the will of a senpai in japan, it is tabu. The most important thing to take from this though was how Taki-sensei showed how hard it is to pick a player and how unqualified the band is to choose a solo player, when it came down to it, they couldn't even get themselves to take a side, because it was too hard. But it also shows the band that they can trust Taki-sensei in these matters, that he won't be biased and will always choose the best players.

Perfection! Kumiko said " Ai no kokuhaku" which can is translated as "Confession of love", but 'ai' is not just a statement of love, more importantly it is a statement of commitment, that you will never leave the other person, that your feelings will never change. It is similar to "I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health." but she is making in the context of friendship and not a romantic context. That is anyway how I choose to interpret it XD Honestly I love the whole yuri bait thing, it makes the who thing so much better. So must pent up emotions, a boiling sea under the surface, so much drama! But more importantly, I don't care what people call it, love, romance or just friendship, it is fucking beautiful either way! Masterful!
