I think you understand her big sis pretty well. The reason she is so resentful towards Kumiko is not just that she was forced to do something else, but that she felt like she was pressured by her parents into quitting something that she really liked in order to be a positive role model for Kumiko. Kumiko on the other hand get to continue doing what she loves and it makes her sister very jealous. She feels that it is so unfair that Kumiko gets to pursue her dreams, but hers were crushed. The resentment comes from jealously.
