The sad thing about growing immune to negative comments and stuff is that by shutting down that emotional response, you can sometimes also end up shutting down your emotional response to positive comments. I don't know how you have experienced that? I had some problems with no feeling joy because I suppressed negative emotions and ended up suppressing all emotions. Or maybe that is just something that happens when you grow up and stop viewing the world for an idealized perspective...
