Give me your best shot! WIN A PHOTOSET OF 3

A Sublet stands gaurd at the entrance of the refinery, her eyes piercing and alert as she scans the area. Her dark hair tied back into a ponytail, revealing striking eyes while her other features hidden behind a mask. Despite the harsh conditions of the facility, she remains composed and vigilant. She knows to never back down in the face of danger. It is her duty to protect the precious Neon Dark within the refinery, and she would do so with every fibre of her being.

If it were your mission to steal it, what would be your best strategy.

Well, better late than never! Here's my submission..................! * * * * * A signal quietly chirped in the sublet's headset. She nodded ever so slightly, triggering an acknowledgement signal back to headquarters, exactly as her training had indicated. She was in charge of this asset, now. It was a beautiful fall night, deathly quiet, with just the slightest hint of chill in the air. None of this was important to the guard. She waited patiently, for any sign of something out of place. Eyes scanning the light mist along the treeline, the heavily-mined meadow, the electric perimeter in the distance. Occasionally she'd hear a crack and silently train her weapon on the treeline, only to see a deer or two trot out briefly before heading back into thick cover. She felt confident and told herself she had the best training the organization could offer. It was an honor they'd trust her to guard such a high-value asset. Several hours passed without indcident. Mental exercises helped her stay focused and alert. Which is why when the projectiles whooshed from the woods faster than she could react, she froze. The first precisely placed round eliminated the communications module on the wall behind her, the console erupting in a shower of sparks and a big ball of smoke. In instant later, another round neatly pierced her left shoulder and she struggled not to shriek, and still a third tore into her right thigh. The guard collapsed to the ground with a vocal but muted grunt. She struggled to remember her training. First and foremost: Do not panic. It was only then that her attacker was ready to show herself. The Commander stepped forward from the misty treeline, smirking slightly and proud of her work. Her well-fitted uniform allowed for freedom of movement and complete silence, while looking stunning. A single, secured horizontal camouflage strap on top for support where needed, and dark green camo cargo pants on the bottom, with a black fanny pack for extra storage. Various weapons and explosives tucked into every easy-to-reach compartment. The night was still silent, aside from the occasional quick burst of sparks and billowing smoke from the still smoldering communications panel. The sublet lay almost completely still, twitching and disabled, possibly dead? She would make a great trophy for the Commander. No matter. No one had been alerted to the intruder, which was the initial primary goal. Entering the facility should be easy now, a simple sieze and capture, the Commander figured. With her skills and weaponry, she'd have little trouble. The refinery would make a great asset for the new alliance, providing energy security for their forces for a long time to come. She smirked in triumph, ready to take out a few more agents and collect her prize. It was amazing how silent the injured sublet was when she raised her weapon, and trained it on the overconfident Commander. She fired, the round barely tearing into her side. A wounding shot for sure, but the sublet's injuries prevented the round from being a true kill shot. The commander grunted and gnashed her teeth but did not shriek, knowing that would alert the entire perimeter. Acting with lightning speed and on survival instinct, she grabbed a pair of grenades with her free arm, activated and threw a long toss toward the injured sublet still laying on the ground. With a bright flash, a muffled boom of shrapnel, and a giant puff of billowing smoke and sparks, the sublet lost consciousness. The Commander smiled despite the searing pain in her gut, as the sublet was now fully incapacitated and unable to offer further resistance. She radioed back the single-word code for success of phase 1. Despite her injury, she would proceed. Suddenly the Commander realized she failed to hear the detonation from the second grenade. Instead, the black ball had bounced past the sublet, then fell tink-tink-tink down the ladder which led to the entrance to the fuel farm down below. A few seconds felt like an eternity as she finally heard the faint burst---followed by yelling and a cacaphony of barked orders. Seconds later, a much larger explosion sent a mushroom cloud of fire skyward. Flames and smoke began to billow and klaxons wailed as the Commander's eyes grew wide. She knew a much larger detonation was soon to follow, and any agents that survived the enormous blast would be out for her blood. She instinctively flipped a switch on her communications pack as she looked at the incapacitated sublet for a moment, disappointed there would be no trophy this night--and alas, no refinery for the new alliance. A shame, but at least she denied the resource to the enemy, so that was some small consolation. She would have to move quickly despite her injuries, or risk capture or being incinerated. The Commander turned to run back into the forest toward the extraction point, bracing herself for the inevitable deafening, fiery confirmation that would finish off not only the sublet, but also the other alluring agents below.

The sublet stands on guard. She is alert, her eyes scan the area looking for potential problems. Suddenly in the corridor she spots movement. What is that? It looks like a kitten frolicking around. She knows she should remain at her position, but she loves kittens. She goes to investigate. On the corridor she bends down. "Hello, you dear little thing. What are you doing here?" The kitten moves, but what is that? A string pulls it into action?? Suddenly a garrotte is looped around her neck. Oh no! Her eyes widen in horror as she is strangled. She struggles, but it is no use. She expires and slips to the floor. I move into the refinery to plunder the precious Neon Dark in the knowledge that there is no one to stop me. The End.
