Important and extensive statement (Eng-Esp)

Hello everyone. This is going to be long but for me it is necessary.

I am writing to make some notes and let you know some changes I will make on Patreon starting next month.

One of them is that you will have to pay in advance to unlock content, which means that it will no longer be paid on a monthly basis.

Why this change?

Well, during this first year, I got bored of seeing how people entered my Patreon just to get what they were interested in and then they delete or cancel the payments.

Those who have been with me during this time, know that I never exceeded $30 at the highest peaks of income. And most of the time, I never exceeded $10.

This is for many reasons, first of all in self-criticism, 5Powers lacked quality in many ways. On the other hand, I have gone through difficult times of lack of work as the pandemic has been no stranger to me. Then I got a job again, although my workload has been reduced.

Also on the other hand I may not be liked by many haters, because in the forums it is probably not well seen that a developer responds to those who want to come to destroy something that I am very fond of. Surely they like to throw their shit and the Dev shut his mouth.

I am not here to victimize myself, but to give a context of certain moments where I have not been able to give priority to the game, added to technical problems with my previous computer.

That said, as little as it may seem, every dollar meant and means a lot to me because of the economic situation.

I have an ethic and that is not to play with other people's pockets, because I don't like them to play with mine.

Part of that ethic has been that when I, for a lot of personal reasons, for which the patrons are not responsible, have delayed in releasing the updates, I tried to compensate in some way for that delay. It has happened that I have advanced in days so that they received the update before the Tier's due date. And even, people who have paid $10 and $15, and had not been able to deliver anything in that month, after logically leaving my Patreon I kept sending them the download links via message.

That's why even if it's $0.01, I will no longer allow them to take advantage of me. Because if I were selling food, then maybe it would be something reasonable, but it is not like that.

I can be kind enough that someone who has been with me for a while, tomorrow will no longer want to be a patron and still send them an update link. I may be nice but I am not an idiot.

In fact, those who have passed through here with the slogan of taking advantage, I have blocked them.

Each person does what he wants with his money and it is not criticizable in what and when he spends it. But not to do this, which has been tiring me for a long time.

Maybe they don't like this decision, or maybe they agree, I don't know. But I think it is my duty to let you know what I think and will do.

Moving on to another change, I have not yet defined it in detail, in terms of number and level, since it is something to be configured. Right now I'm focused on character creation.

But I will put tiers with discounts and limited places.

I don't know if it will be like that since I would have to see the options that Patreon gives me, but I will put an example:

For a tier worth $10, I can leave it with a 70% discount by paying 3 months, but I'll check that after the 20th.

Well, that's all for now. I know my speech is very long, tedious, and cathartic, but I have been thinking about it for a long time, and as we say in my country... "I got burned".

Hola a todos. Ésto será largo pero para mi es necesario.

Les escribo para hacer algunos apuntes y comunicarles algunos cambios que haré en Patreon a partir del próximo mes.

Uno de ellos es que se deberá abonar con antelación para desbloquear contenido, eso quiere decir que ya no se abonará a mes vencido.

Por qué este cambio?

Bueno, durante este primer año, me aburrí de ver como entraron a mi Patreon solo para sacar lo que les interesaba y luego se borran o cancelan los pagos.

Quienes me han acompañado durante este tiempo, saben que nunca superé los $30 en los picos mas altos de ingresos. Y la mayoría del tiempo, nunca superé los $10.

Esto es por muchos motivos, primero que nada en la autocrítica, a 5Powers le faltó calidad en muchos sentidos. Por otro lado, he atravesado por difíciles momentos de falta de trabajo ya que la pandemía no me ha sido ajena. Luego conseguí trabajo nuevamente, aunque me han reducido la carga horaria.

También por otro lado yo puedo no caer simpático para muchos haters, porque en los foros es probable que no esté bien visto que un desarrollador les responda a aquellos que quieren venir a destruir algo que le tengo mucho cariño. Seguramente les gusta tirar su mierda y que el Dev se calle la boca.

No estoy aquí para victimizarme, sino para dar un contexto de ciertos momentos donde no le he podido dar prioridad al juego, sumado a desperfectos técnicos con mi anterior computadora.

Dicho eso, por muy poco que parezca, cada dolar para mi significaba y significa mucho por la situación económica.

Yo tengo una ética y es no jugar con el bolsillo ajeno, pues no me gusta que jueguen con el mío.

Parte de esa ética ha sido que cuando yo por un montón de motivos personales, de los cuales los mecenas no tienen responsabilidad, he demorado en sacar las actualizaciones, intenté compensar de alguna manera ese retraso. Ha sucedido que he adelantado en días para que recibieran la actualización antes de lo que al Tier le correspondía. E incluso, gente que ha llegado a abonar $10 y $15, y no había podido entregar nada en ese mes, luego de lógicamente irse de mi Patreon le seguí enviando los enlaces de descarga vía mensaje.

Por eso es que aunque sea $0.01, ya no voy a permitir que quieran aprovecharse. Porque si yo vendiese comida, pues quizás sea algo razonable, pero no es así. 

Puedo tener la gentileza de que alguien que me haya acompañado un tiempo, el día de mañana ya no quiera ser mecena y de todos modos enviarle un enlace de actualización. Yo puedo ser bueno pero no idiota.

De hecho aquellos que han pasado por aquí con la consigna de aprovecharse, los he bloqueado.

Cada persona hace lo que quiere con su dinero y no es criticable en que y cuando lo gasta. Pero no hacer ésto que ya me viene cansando desde hace tiempo.

Quizás ésta decisión no les guste, o quizás estén de acuerdo, no lo sé. Pero creo que es mi deber hacerles saber lo que pienso y haré.

Pasando a otro cambio, aún no lo tengo definido en detalle, de cifra y nivel ya que es algo a configurar. Ahora mismo estoy centrado en la creación de personajes.

Pero pondré tiers con descuento y lugares limitados.

No se si será así ya que tendría que ver las opciones que me da Patreon, pero pondré un ejemplo:

Un tier que valga $10, lo puedo dejar con 70% de descuento abonando 3 meses, pero eso lo checaré luego del día 20.

Bien, es todo por ahora. Sé que es muy largo, tedioso y catártico mi discurso, pero hace mucho tiempo lo venía pensando y ya como decimos en mi país...."Me quemé"
