I said so when they first took mao mao and they themselves said so they will kill everyone for being traitors even if it was those at the top only. so instead of the kids dying probably some brutal way of which there are many, she gave them a sleep and never wake up. only way to stop more traitors from a family is to kill everyone. im am starting to think the emperor knew all of this and let it happen to actually catch their hands in the act so he could kill them and increase his power as a ruler taking all of their land and money and now how to make gunpowder in mass and make guns. he used the empty slot of a high concubine so the crazy lady would send shishou as a high officer and get loulan as a barter chip when they would do and if shishou cared about loulan he would betray the crazy lady to save loulan but since loulan also escaped with her whole trick, that path is gone and there will be not fake death for her or suirei since jinshi knows about so they will make sure to check the bodies or just decapitate there to avoid a escapee later

It's much more merciful for her to poison them and let them sleep versus having the army slaughter them.

I am beginning to wonder if Shisui and her sister brought Maomao here in order to thwart Shenmei? I mean it would make sense even if it will cost everyone their life. Man this shit is super heavy.π Oh and Taylor saying Javon's name instead of Re:Animated at the end and the look on your face Sherm was priceless. Javon doing a stupid wave too!π€£π€£π€£

The shock and disbelief, the slow acceptance, and then the genuine smile of the Shisui we always knew returning. Just an absolutely flawless bit of character animation. I also like how they explained the lantern fruit. Shisui had been eating some and Maomao mentioned it was poisonous, to which Shisui said she knows and nothing else. Tying into this, we previously learned that lantern fruit was currently out of season. Lantern fruit is edible, but when unripe it is quite poisonous and can induce abortions. This episode finally explains why she was eating it despite knowing the risks, Shisui never wanted the emperorβs child and was constantly taking abortifacients while at the palace. She doesnβt have those anymore so sheβs still just eating lantern fruit to try preventing pregnancy. Everything about her situation is so incredibly tragic.
