A Rad Time - Ep 2 - Holly Musgrave

Comments

I have decided to watch the Ghibli movies thanks to Holly and Ponyo is absolutely incredible.

Carla Fabiola De Alba Navarro

100% agree with Holly on wet foods, I would absolutely try roast dinner risotto. My s.o. also prefers dry foods and we’ve been together for 13 years so I think we’re on to something!

Maddie

Regarding why Gerard Way seemed to take his time between vol. 2 & 3 of Umbrella Academy - DC Comics created a new imprint which they called Young Animal and gave Gerard control of the titles from that imprint. He actually wrote 2 of the titles - Doom Patrol and Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye. Both are bizarre and brilliant.

Austin Ashwell

Was thrilled to find out that I've read at least half of the books/entries on Adam's list - the rest is now put on my to read list.

Andreas Woetzold

If it makes Terry feel better it’s no unheard of for a new CEO to come in from outside of the company, My companies current CEO was brought into the company after the founder retired

Brian More or Less

Didn't expect to know more than MAYBE one of Adam's indie comics, but then he started with Manhattan Projects and I was like "I have that! It's awesome! It's MAD!" Saga and Bone are also fantastic. Blacksad and Locke & Key are going on the list, too. They sound great.

Just starting reading Umbrella Academy off the back of this (I know, very late to the party). Loving it so far so thanks for the recommendation!

ML

Just picked up Manhattan projects.very fun.thanks for the recommendation.

Wonderful listening to somebody else’s joy in Ghibli movies - I also saw spirited away on the west wend, and it’s one of the most visually beautiful things I’ve ever seen. I also now have a rather expensive basket full of new comics for me to experience! My poor bank!

Phil Scully

Would you be able to provide a list of the comics? I would love to check some out

Robin

That is so exciting!!!!

My youngest has just insisted we pick up Varjak Paw & Outlaw. She had already finished Varjak and wanted it just for her mum and I to read.

Michael Lee

This is almost as cozy as the surely inevitable Sullivan Beaux Brown's top ten cardigans episode will be.

Rooty Rootyson

I didn’t have “Terry describes Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair, while discussing Miazaki” on my BINGO card.

Rich Wisneski

Never read graphic novels/comics and don’t know what a Ghibli movie is, but i have invested in BlampCo and i’m a company man so i will attend the seminar.

wingers1983

There is so much new information here.

If you're looking for a new indie comic to read, please, give Sunstone a read. Yes, it is VERY NSFW, however, it is one of the best modern romance stories you'll find out there. It is currently 8 volumes (9 just started) and still ongoing, but it's definitely work the wait. It is also the flagship title of a larger franchise (unofficially called the Per-Verse) that includes Blood Stain, Swing, Sugar, and Fine Print (and, VERY tangentially, Punderworld and Death Vigil, as those just have minor connections). I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's a series that changed my life.

I couldn't agree with holly more. Its not only my favorite of those movies - its my favorite movie of all time

I love that Holly's current manga reading list is basically the same as mine. And for indie graphic novels, some of my favorites that weren't on Adam's list are: - Monstress - Absolutely incredible intricate art. A girl trying to figure out who she is in a world steeped in history, ancient grudges, racial tensions, otherworldly beings, and magic. - Seven to Eternity - A man's attempt to redeem his family while the world crumbles and tries to stop him the entire way. It worms its way into your head. - The Wicked & The Divine - Every 90ish years 12 gods inhabit the bodies of youths. They do miraculous things, but die 2 years later. A story of celebrity and pop culture, and what it can do to those sucked into it. - Die - Years ago, 6 teenage friends began playing a ttrpg and disappeared. 5 of them came back 2 years later. Now they're adults and they get sucked back into the game they disappeared into. Amazingly imaginative with loads to say about RPG tropes, the history of gaming, and how these things affect and reveal us. Monstress is still ongoing, but the other 3 are complete. And as a bonus entry, I desperately wish Moth & Whisper would get more than its current single volume. It's great.

I utterly adore this; hearing people discuss things they love is amazing; A really nice concept that having listened to the first two I think is fantastic Long live the niche

Thomas Radcliffe

That was thoroughly lovely. I beg you Teri - don't get strict about the time limits. As Adam said at the end, there is nothing better in this world than hearing people enthuse about the things that they love.

Liz Dwyer

It's a christmas miracle

Liz Dwyer

Fuck yeah, great to hear Holly on this! Hopefully time for Sully next 😉😄 Also! Bone is fucking amazing. Great shout!

Kristian Hagberg

Any chance of making this a video podcast? - it doesn't have to be high quality.

whenitmatters

HOLLY!!! Hopefully we get Tempest next!
