Exeggutor Rental, EV Spreads, and Explanation

Hey all! Here's the rental and EV spreads for the Exeggutor team - overall I was really impressed with how the team played, and I think it was possible to have won the tournament with it.

EV spreads: https://pokepast.es/1e71ea4a2c41c8c8

Exeggutor: I started with this Pokemon since it was going to be the focus of the team. After trying several different types of teams, I eventually went back to a sun team as it was the easiest to generate momentum by taking KOs of the archetypes I tried. Exeggutor was given an optimal amount of HP for Sitrus Berry, enough special defense to both get the nature bump and have positive rolls against choice specs flutter mane moonblast, and the rest was put into bulk. While Leech Seed is a better standalone move on Exeggutor, as this team had multiple slow Pokemon I decided on trick room - the other moves are probably the best ones Exeggutor can use. I went with Tera Poison because I didn't want to end up in a battle with three fire types at the same time, and poison has good synergy with Exeggutors base typing.

Torkoal: If I wanted to build around a sun team, I needed a way to get the sun up. I thought Torkoal was a way better Pokemon than Ninetales, so I went with it. Eject Pack is a surprisingly useful item, as you can get torkoal off the field while still getting sun up - as a note, the interaction with eject pack and Intimidate is bugged on showdown - in game you'll get sun up if you lead it against an intimidate user, on Showdown you wont. I wanted Torkoal to primarily be here as a support Pokemon setting sun up and using helping hand to boost the protosynthesis Pokemon, but I wanted it to still be able to do damage. Overheat does respectable damage and can activate eject pack, and body press does decent damage and isn't affected by Overheats special attack drops. Tera Grass is for defense and for Amoonguss. The EV spread is just a basic one, you get the most value with your nature raising your highest stat, maxing HP is good on a Pokemon with relatively low base HP, and the rest of the points are put into special defense since Torkoal is relatively frail on the special side.

I knew I wanted protosynthesis sweepers, so Flutter Mane was my first choice. With both Choice Specs and protosynthesis, the damage output can be absurd, not even factoring in helping hand and tera fairy. I initially had speed boosting flutter mane, but realized that special attack boosting is much more threatening. The EVs are intended to get the special attack nature bump, be a few points above tornadus and ogerpon, with the rest split between defense and HP to hopefully survive chien-pao. I had Perish Song as the 4th move for awhile but switched to power gem before the tournament - power gem ended up being extremely valuable, I'm confident it was the right 4th move.

I wanted another protosynthesis Pokemon, and Raging Bolt was the obvious choice. I'd tried walking wake but the lack of bulk and the awkward speed stat made me rethink it. Raging Bolt has the magnet to get multiplicative scaling with protosynthesis, which is the same reason for the offensive tera type of electric. This Pokemon was really good - tera electric thunderbolt and thunderclap in the sun output absurd damage, and even moreso with helping hand. I ran enough speed to outspeed scarf urshifu in tailwind, more special attack than the average amount in order to get a nature bump, and put the rest in HP. The moves are relatively self explanatory - the only debate is dragon pulse or draco meteor, but helping hand draco meteor in the sun can KO Pokemon like Amoonguss, plus with my raging bolt being faster than every other raging bolt I wanted to force them to terastalize or get knocked out.

Incineroar: I really tried to avoid using Incin on this team but ultimately it was necessary. In order to make Exeggutor work you really need Intimidate, and Incineroar was just too good to pass up. I wanted Incineroar to be tanky, but with Exeggutor taking the sitrus berry my options were limited, so I eventually settled on the assault vest. This allows Incineroar to have a lot of staying power, and with flare blitz being powered up in sun it can hit hard as well. The moves are standard on assault vest, and I went with tera grass for more Amoonguss hate. I wanted to be able to use Incineroar in Trick Room, and to be able to knock off before Exeggutor attacked, so I made it one point slower than the Eggs. The EVs are intended to let it survive Glimmora meteor beam, with the rest in defense.

Torn was the last Pokemon I added - it was clear that I needed some form of speed control, and I liked that Torn could use both prankster tailwind and prankster sunny day. Focus Sash is a great item and I hadn't used it yet, so I went with it which made my EVs very simple to decide. Covert Cloak is good but in my opinion it isn't as necessary with protect, whereas focus sash often has a lot of value. Bleakwind Storm sucks and ultimately cost me the tournament - I don't know if I'd want to use Torn at a tournament with higher stakes. Tera Ghost is useful against fake out and moves like extreme speed - I actually never tera ghosted in the tournament, but just by having it I made opponents think twice before clicking fake out.

There are a lot of strong parts to this team, so I hope you enjoy using it!
