Lucky Star: "Costume Party" PDF

The girls of Lucky Star are hanging about in their usual way and have plans for a costume party that everyone is excited for. During the early parts of 2020, before the Covid Pandemic happened, I had started to take on making stories for the community on commission. Extra money is always nice, most of us aren’t so well off that we wouldn’t be glad for the additional funds, but that wasn’t the reason I decided to sell my craft. I had met a friend in a different community and wanted to help her out through hard times. She was doing her best, but the world often doesn’t let up due to genuine efforts, so I decided I would use the money earned from commissioned stories to help her myself. I wrote a few others when I was approached about the idea of Konata wearing a diaper and dressing infant-like at a party with the other characters of Lucky Star. A loose pitch to be sure, but I thought about it and molded the notion into something usable. That granted me a certain confidence for sure, but once the job was done part of me began to feel the story was more than the first chapter. That a one shot wouldn’t leave me satisfied. It would have been unreasonable to expect a commissioner to fund the length the story ultimately became for sure. Costume Party isn’t a perfect story to be sure. I wanted to make something funny, romantic, and still was allured by punishment elements too. All these things came together in the final product for better or worse. Most importantly though, I found I had the stamina once again to go beyond single issue thoughts and make something longer. It was another blow against that depression that kept me from writing for so long and will always have that meaning. This was also my first time trying to give the extended cast love and Misao, in the way I wrote her, would come to be a favorite of mine and stole the spotlight in nearly every scene she found her silly way into.
