We Happy Few - A Joyless Broken Disaster (Jimpressions)

The utter state We Happy Few was released in is unbelievable. Despite a successful Kickstarter, Gearbox support, and years of development, this mess should never have left Early Access.

Nothing short of a mega patch will fix everything truly messed up about this game. If you can imagine a game bug, any game bug, We Happy Few probably has it.

"It's too bad we'll likely never be able to learn the reason" Give it a day.

Wow. My experience has been entirely the opposite of Jim's. The game has been running flawlessly for me at 4K Ultra. I'm well into the game and I've seen none of the bugs and glitches shown in the video. Textures are loading properly. NPC's are behaving as they should. AI is fine. That weird quivering after they die just isn't there when I'm playing. I literally have not seen a single glitch which is something I have been quite pleasantly surprised by. Hell, it's so well optimized that at 4K Ultra settings it's barely heating up my 1080ti. I don't know if I got an extra-specially finished copy from Steam or if Jim's copy was somehow badly broken but I'm really puzzled by the discrepancy. Like Jim, I backed the game on Kickstarter but frankly I'm really pleased with the result. Just thought I should say that the problems Jim's having are not universal. It's too bad we'll likely never be able to learn the reason for the vastly inconsistent results.

It's going to end up in the trash can in the JimQ into isn't it

Understood. We happy fewer is the new code name for this defective product.

Are you sure you are not playing the pirated version?

I guess with Jim's frustration about the game, I guess we loyal patrons should refer to it as "We Happy Fewer."

You know gearbox didn't make the game, they only published it.

This is really sad to see because I loved Borderlands 1, 2, even TPS in spite of its somewhat subpar writing by comparison. Based on the last few years, and really for what I understand the years before and around Borderlands, it's one of the only series' they've managed to consistently do well and I have no real faith that they'll continue to manage that.

have to say only 3 hours in an took my time only just got to maidenholm and not encountered anywhere near the level of issues you have its a shame, framerates did drop an screen tearing was there but so far not had any broken quests or glitchs? prey for the rest of my playthrough ( i have 1080ti the textures did get a bit blurry) i agree the stealth an combat is pretty poor as is the notion it deserved doubling the price, wonder how microsoft purchase now will handle this dev for the future?

But did they keep your voice acting? Edit: I was at work earlier when I wrote that; now that I've had a chance to watch the video: I was sad to hear that they didn't use your voiced lines, Jim. But take heart. They may still include them in the DLC that they're already selling season passes for.
