Amnesia Rebirth - Forgettable Frights (Jimpressions)

Amnesia: Rebirth isn't a bad game, but it doesn't live up to the series for which it's titled. While billed as a direct sequel to The Dark Descent, it feels further removed from that than the indirect chapter, A Machine for Pigs.

It's got some nice monster designs, and it's a decent enough horror game, but it fails to stand out amongst the sea of scary games that landed in the ten years since The Dark Descent influenced a genre.

yeah my head actually hurt trying to watch footage of this game, it looks bland as hell, frankly as Yahtzee pointed out in his review these types of games are now very outdated compared to the likes of RE7.

I wish looking down at my tummy calmed me down!

Okay, I never played this game and I am not a fan of horror. Is everyone dead in this? It feels like either you are dead and everyone else is too or that you are in a dream or someone else's dream. It also seems like a game filled with 90's puzzles like if you combine a banana with a lighter then you get a fire extinguisher that you need to use as a wheel that will turn a lever that gives you a key that you use to open a box of matches, which is of course the only way to actually beat the litch queen. Oh yea. And these games are dark. Way too dark. I want to see a satire of this where you literally stare at a black screen and your health bar increases and decreases at random. You get that red animation lime you get hit. Also, there has to be a single candle way far away.

Problem with making more of what you're good at, by the time a decade is out so has everyone. Hard to maintain 100% new and amazing stuff when you're suddenly competing with a billion others doing everything you could think of.

I'm only 3 hours in and I have to agree so far. SOMA and the first Amnesia have much stronger opening hours, in my opinion. I still think about SOMA a lot even though I only played it once shortly after it came out.
