So I have a question which may or may not be of interest/relevance to you. What exactly is a game engine and how exactly does it determine the final product? For me this is relevant to game criticism; for example, I have heard more than once people talking about how Bethesda's engine is ancient and presumably therefore affects the quality of the game. The fact that Bethesda is using their old engine for Starfield or for the new Elder Scrolls is thus considered problematic... but I want to know, is this true? Exactly how much does the engine matter? Does the engine really put some limitation on mechanics or aesthetics or graphic quality or... something?

Would you encourage aspiring journalists/reviewers to get into game journalism or avoid the whole damn shooting match?

So, even though, it turns out that the 80's cartoons we loved as kids were just 30 minute toy commercials with a slapped on message at the end. Do you think they may have nevertheless been one of the more effective socially progressive movements of the time? As in, how many people grew up and were better people simply because He-Man or Thundercats told them to be more accepting of others and not base everything on an outward appearance? Are kids today poorer for it, by not having a socially acceptable, albeit often trivial, life lesson slapped onto the end of Spongebob? I like to think that I grew up to be less of an asshole, simply because He-man told me not to be an asshole.
