Obligatory Video About Microsoft Buying Activision (The Jimquisition)

Microsoft is acquiring Activision Blizzard in one of the biggest power moves this industry has ever seen. I guess we have to talk about that instead of anything I wanted to talk about. God's sake!

Ah, nuts.

I love your content a lot! You seem to be a person who speaks out about things, I can only think. About gaming, capitalism and gender!

You sure that little story hasn’t been bought out of the curriculum at this point?

Emil Johansen

Per his contract terms that would cost MS $292,970,341. If anything this acquisition has further solidified his tenure.

It's so depressing watching these monopolies form when we literally learned why it's a bad idea in history class...

Oh, don't get me wrong, I appreciate he's essentially beyond the reach of justice (actually meant to add that into my original post). Even if he wasn't benefiting financially from the sale, he'd still be so rich it wouldn't matter. It'd still be a good thing for him to be gone.

Now it's a race to see if Disney can buy out Microsoft or Microsoft can buy out Disney before one of the soda giants devours them both.

Trevor Bond

Odds are if he's turfed he walks away with billions in buyout money. Or he's made his continued presence something baked into the sale. He won't suffer at all for this either way.

Thank you for the most thorough handling of this I've seen. 12 minutes paints a genuinely thorough picture of the situation and its implications.

I feel a bit pissed at this. I am not a pc gamer and I detest Microsoft so I picked up a play station. Now Microsoft removed a bunch of titles that I would love to play due to exclusive content. So I guess I have to get an Xbox now and like, I hate that. I don't want one but I also know that a whole suite of games I liked are never going to come to ps5.

This is maybe optimism on my part but Kotick and a lot of the board being out on their ass has got to be a no-brainer, right? The timing of this has got to be due in part to the dip in ActiBlizz's market value caused by all the bad publicity, it would be massive free good publicity, and the business model will change so much that whatever so-called 'unique skills' were keeping Kotick safe will be far less relevant. The complete cultural overhaul the company clearly needs is less likely but it's something.
