Earthbound didn't introduce the concept, but it certainly had the notion of "if you're overleveled enough, you just auto-win battles." I think the exact algebra was: if you could defeat the enemy before it can even act, you get to auto-win. How...20+ years on...HOW has this not become standard in ALL JRPGS?????
