Hello everyone,
Upon our New Year reflections, we’ve decided to make some changes to our Patreon page and project. Most of these changes are simply attempts to more concisely communicate who we are and what VoidBound is to prospective new patrons who happen upon our page, however, we are also restructuring some of our reward tiers as well.
For starters, we’re getting rid of the $70 and $300 tiers. No one was pledged to them anyway and we feel like they were a bit superfluous at best while giving a bad impression of why we’re making VoidBound at worst.
At the heart of the tier reward changes is a fundamental change in how we release versions of the game moving forward. The way release access will work moving forward is that patron version releases will be made available to everyone at Observer($5) tier and higher, while everyone Benefactor($20) tier and higher are given access to a beta build of the patron version 2 weeks prior to release.
We do still intend to update the public version of the game regularly, but we’re not going to commit to a timetable on doing so. Suffice to say, it will not be available a week after the patron version releases to Observer($5) tier patrons.
Outside of that core change, most of the tier rewards will remain the same. We’re changing the text on all of them though in order to make it more clear what each tier offers and less time consuming to read.
There are three changes occurring to the Benefactor($20) tier:
We’re also removing the costume reward from the $100 tier. It has the potential to bog down development too much as we build out more costume-based events. We’re sure most of you can understand the rationale behind this, especially if you follow many other games that do costume-variant-based events.
Discord Changes
Anyone on the Discord will also note Discord changes occurring as well in the next week (if they haven’t been implemented already). These are just organizational changes meant to make the Discord more easily navigable and welcoming.
I hope no one finds these changes too jarring. We’ve decided to make them after a lot of deliberation and believe they’re part of moving the entire project in a better overall direction, giving it every chance to succeed this coming year as we implement long request game changes too.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please of course feel free to voice them here or in the Discord.
I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding through these changes.
Thanks for reading,
~ Cursed Atelier
