2022-08-22 13:34:38 +0000 UTCA good family friend of ours many years back, when we were just getting to know him, was pretty much homeless sleeping and living in the tiny sleeper on his semi. We didn't really know him at the time, but we took him our fully furnished camper to his property down the road for him to live in until he could get more situated where he was at the time. I remember after we dropped it off, I had this really warm, giddy feeling in my chest. I haven't ever forgotten that feeling. After that, he and my family have become really good friends!

2022-08-22 05:48:41 +0000 UTCWhen I was in Cadet Camp for my Cis course, me and my brother had to leave early because the army cadets brought in covid. I pack up my stuff and I was sitting on the floor outside the boys dorm waiting for my brother and a boy from another unit I didn’t know saw me, walked into the mess hall and brought me a chair. I didn’t have to use it for long but it was so sweet and sometimes you don’t see that in a lot of cadets
2022-08-21 10:34:40 +0000 UTCStory 1: I just moved into a new place and my brother surprised me by buying me some cleaning supplies and things for my new home. Story 2: Me and a couple friends where having a picnic in a local park. There was a family with two kids flying kites. One of the kids lost their kite when the wind ripped the handle out of their hand. The parent, me, and my friends all tired to catch the kite, but it got away. I had brought two kites with me to the park for me and my friends to fly. I gave one of them to the kid who had just lost theirs.

2022-08-21 01:51:29 +0000 UTCKindness to me: My Mom and Dad helped me this week in dealing with my emotions about a (bad) letter that my ex sent me (let's just say it wound up in the trash). Mom also gave me a one of my favorite drinks because I wasn't feeling well this morning. Kindness I gave: I was leaving work for a job interview when I saw that a coworker's classroom was still very messy so I helped her clean up before leaving. I was almost late for the interview, but I'm glad that I stopped. Hearing about your experiences is so heart lifting and makes my day! ❤️ Btw, Ben, Dennis Day sends his regards from his Live stream. 😆
2022-08-20 21:12:46 +0000 UTCOh god, this thread came at just about the right time. So, fun fact about how this has literally been the WILDEST week of my life: My car was stolen from right in front of my house about three days ago. I need my car to go to work. I live in a city far away from the rest of my family. The best I have is my support network of friends I LITERALLY just met like four months ago and my small selection of coworkers. Everyone's been so nice about helping me out--offering to drive me to work, grocery stores, helping with looking for new cars, etc. It's hard to highlight one very specific act of kindness, but one of my favorites was that two of my friends offered to come with me all the way back to my hometown (about 200 miles away) with me and my mom to help with car shopping. It just really helps a lot, having all these people who barely know me willing to lend a helping hand for a situation that could've been much more traumatic if I was genuinely all alone.
2022-08-19 17:13:34 +0000 UTCEarlier this month, I got very sick and contacted my boss to call out of work, thinking it was just food poisoning or something. As the day went on, I only got worse and felt one of the worst pains I ever experienced in my 30+ year life. When I updated my boss, she asked me if I needed a ride to the hospital. When I said "yes", she literally dropped everything and quickly drove to my apartment to take me to the ER. Despite being busy with work and planning a family event that was happening that same day, she stayed with me while I waited for the doctor just to make sure that I was going to be OK. It turned out to be something more serious and I was in the hospital for two days. When I returned to work, one of the first things she did was check up on me to see how I was doing. I am forever grateful to that wonderful woman for helping me and potentially saving my life. Best boss ever.

2022-08-19 14:14:48 +0000 UTCI don't have a lot of confidence, especially when it comes to romance, so I tend to have crushes on celebrities and actors because it feels safe knowing I won't meet then and they'll never know me so they can't reject me. But one year for my birthday my best friend got creative and decided to write my 5 favorite actors asking them to wish me a happy birthday. He still won't tell me what he said to them, if he sent a card, or anything. Just that the cost of postage was a bitch (3 lived in other countries). Whatever it was no doubt went to their agents and probably thrown away but I still tear up think about how sweet and thoughtful his gift was. We never heard from anyone, but he instead printed a picture of me with his dog (who is my fur nephew), with some funny writing from "the dog" and a paw print signature.

2022-08-19 06:17:28 +0000 UTCThis is actually a short version of a much longer story. Let me start by saying my cats are my children. I will do whatever it takes to keep them happy and healthy. Last month I had hand surgery. The morning of my surgery, one of my cats had a medical emergency. On the way to the surgical center, I rushed him to an emergency vet. He was hospitalized a couple of days and sent home with medication. I live alone and it is pretty much impossible to medicate a cat with only one hand. I put out an a request on Nextdoor, our local social media app, to hire someone to come by twice daily for several days to give him his meds. A really sweet person responded to the request. Not only would she not take my money, she bought my boy a parting gift. Nice to know we still have good people in the world. He is doing fine now. Since she wouldn’t take cash, I convinced her to let me pay with one of her favorites- Ghirardelli chocolates.

2022-08-19 03:43:15 +0000 UTCThis seems like such a small topic at first, just tell a cute little story. But when you start thinking about it... There are so many wonderful people in this world and so many opportunities to be kind. In the end, I think it is just the fundamental choice of how you take on life. Be kind. That's it. That is also when you start seeing all the good things around you, people being kind to each other, towards you and your loved ones. It's such a wonderful feeling of being connected and appreciated. ... But I do have a story about the person who was the kindest human being I ever knew, and was and is and will always be my strong rock and my guiding star. My grandma was the one person who showed me that there is, indeed, unconditional love. My childhood and youth was a little rough, as it happens, but my grandma was my save place ever since I can remember. She showed me how to love and trust, how to see the world with a kind heart, how to just think warmly. She also made me want to be a teacher, like she was herself. And although I'm not able to actually teach regular classes anymore now and had to chose another job, my grandma will still always be my rolemodel in life. She left us in december of 2020, but it is so wonderful how she still is here with us - with my mom, my brother, my sister in law, with me, with my cousins and aunts - every single day... she is just amazing that way. She taught all of us about loving the world and being kind. 💜
2022-08-19 02:27:35 +0000 UTCI have quite obvious self harm scars and people do comment and I usually just ignore it but one time on the train this lady couldn't keep her mouth shut, she was incredibly insulting and said some horrific things that I just tried to ignore but a lovely stranger interrupted her and shut her up and said she should keep her mouth shut about things she is clearly clueless about. He said she was teaching the young kid she had with her that it was ok to belittle others just because it's something you don't understand, and that if she wanted her kid to be a good person that she should take a look at herself first. He made sure I was ok and that I was safe and told me he was proud of me for getting through so much even though he didn't know so much as my name <3
2022-08-19 00:32:57 +0000 UTCWe just had a large storm pass through while my neighbors were out of town. The storm delayed their trip back home. I knew their dog was scared of thunderstorms so I went over for them and stayed with the dog for a bit. She didn’t do much other than hide in my lap, wouldn’t even move to eat, but I think she appreciated not being alone.
