The Lantern

The magic of Nona is closely related to the lunar phases - it weakens during the new moon and reaches full strength by the full moon. To prepare for the period of weakening of magic, Nona must track the phases. The lantern helps her in this. Its inner hemisphere is mobile and revolves around the sphere in which magic is concentrated. The degree of opening of the sphere corresponds to the phases of the moon. So, if the moon is not visible in the firmament, Nona can always look at the lantern and understand which moon the phase is in, and how soon her magic will weaken.
I tried to show it in the illustration. Of course, to understand the phase of the moon, you need to look at the lantern not from the side (as it is shown here), but directly at the entire open area of the outer hemisphere :3
