My prom had a Mardi Gras theme and it was cheesy as well and took place in the gym, so yes, it was very much similar to the look of the prom in this episode. We even had a photographer taking couple photos as well. I thought it was quite accurate in comparison to my prom.

Lol depends on where you are at when it comes to proms. Mine was just a room with some tables and dimmed lights. I also loved the umbrella scene. Buffy needed at least one thing she could take away from going to high school. She always wanted to be part of it and never could, and it was nice for her to receive that appreciation.

Great reaction. I have rewatched this series more time than I can count and can never get through this episode (or any episode that Buffy or Willow cry in) without tears. And I agree with you about this version of Wild Horses... It is so beautiful! And as far as American proms, as most of the previous comments have stated, they are pretty awesome. We had ours on a boat! I love your reactions and can’t wait to see more. This series just gets better and better in my opinion!

I went to a really small poor high school and ours still felt fancy, and enough people take it seriously so it doesn't feel too cheesy. I was also taken to someone else's prom in the rich part of town and it was bananas. Though I mostly remember my righteous indignation about the tickets being $200.

Awww, I loved this reaction. When you cried and laughed, I cried and laughed. 🥰You have such a heart on your sleeve for Buffy. I feel like ALL the actors brought their absolute A game in this episode. Especially SMG and David. And Even Alyson Hannigan one small emotional scene, crying because Buffy was crying, she was so affecting. The Sunday's cover of this song is SO good, and it's such a memorable part of this episode. Prom is honestly so fun here... our whole class went from the prom down to the beach together (we're not a beach town so it was a drive). 300 of us took up two hotels, got wasted, and partied on the beach with all the people we never hung out with before, and never would again.

As far as American proms go, I went all four years and they were always held in fancy hotels. It was always a huge event. Usually groups of people attending got limos and went to a fancy dinner before the dance. A lot of people would rent suite hotel rooms for parties following prom.

I cry throughout this episode every time. Such an amazing episode! You're right, the scene where she gets the award is one of the very best scenes in Buffy. I still can't listen to the Sundays version of Wild Horses without tearing up because of the Angel scene, too.

This episode is such an emotional rollercoaster. Only Buffy can make you cry from sadness and happiness within a span of 20 minutes. This is one of my favorites in the series. And yep American Proms are really like this. I would actually say that Buffy’s prom is a little understated compared to mine. Theirs was still held in the gymnasium whereas my school rented out a fancy banquet hall. I was in HS same time as Buffy too

honestly... this is one of the few things TV doesn't have to exaggerate about. American Proms really can be pretty damn fancy. Mine was held at a giant, beautiful banquet hall. Black tie. Live bands. Cool stuff. But usually the school has a group of kids volunteer as the Prom Committee, so the quality depends on who joined the group and how much money your school has.
