2021-08-11 17:06:01 +0000 UTCIt took a little while, but Riley grew on me. Looking at Angel then and Riley now, Buffy's needed different things at different points in her life. While Riley may be flawed (in a good character-depth way), he's the right mix of a normal outsider and someone in the know to make the dynamic interesting.

Yes, he isn't the "epic love story" that Angel and Buffy were, but he is a good man and I like the dynamic between Buffy and him. I don't think Buffy could be with someone "normal".

2021-08-11 08:21:43 +0000 UTCI don't think the writers were trying to make us see that Willow isn't a nerd anymore because she dated Oz, or that they see it that way. I think they were showing us that, on some level, Willow sees it that way. Which makes me kind of sad for her. Spike was a highlight of this episode. Your enjoyment of him in this one was wonderful. His ending speech always makes me laugh. And it's so ironic that when he pretends to have an American accent, it's bad, considering that his British accent is in fact fake, and he speaks with a real American one. He pulls off a fake American accent really well, and his delivery of it makes the whole thing so much funnier.
