It's annoying how much she puts Stefan on pedestal so much that she couldn't believe that devil asked for meeting. She looked at Damon like as if Stefan is an angel and how could the devil want to talk to him. Well care cuz he's not

Stefan is very entitled, he was raised to think he was better than his brother and he got away with murder, literally, because the women he encounter in his life reinforce this concept. He has power over women at the point that his conviction to be good , saved him from lots of situations like the Monterey one. Damon punish himself enough, but that is not the point. Damon even he has done as well very bad things, he always own his bad doing and he always paid very harshly for everything he has done and he hasn't done, attributed to him just out of bad reputation, since he was young. That is what makes the difference this season, accountability, who is got away with murder all his life and think somehow to be worthy of peace and who has already pay for the bad doing more than enough. Stefan, that has done some serious evil stuff and was never called accountable for it, apart form some guilty conscious and Damon that has done not even half as bad things as Stefan did and has paid all his life with loneliness, unloved and sad, With his childhood take away the promise of love taken away, him turning into a vampire against his will, the love of his life taken away form him by the evil doing of his mother etc. but he is convinced to deserve hell. Now they are faced with the reality of the things and Cade is making Stefan face up with his doing and he is more interested in him, because he can manipulate his way out of the evil he has done without consequences.

Ripper Stefan is Stefan. There's some thing with Stefan and its that he has a very good way of selective memory and choosing what to erase and what to keep. Like Cade said "but you forgot on your own" Stefan is dark, he has a bad control with blood, ripper isn't just no humanity but it's also just him in general. He killed those people on Christmas, he knew what he was doing but he didn't control it. Still makes him evil. Cade knows Stefan is much darker and more evil than Damon, doesn't ignore what Damon has done but Damon gives off the sense of pushing his nature to be evil. He wants to be the villain, Stefan wants to be the hero. But in reality one is much darker in nature vs one trying to make his nature as a villain and Cade sees who's who. And to point out the times of no humanity, it's still you, you know what you're doing and you know what you wanna do, you just don't care of the concern of others and consequences.

This season more than any season is very psychological and brave as concept, because it treath the concept of evil and good as an undetached concept to religious believes, moving more on the real of psycology. In theory Cabe is right, if Stefan didn’t insert himself in Elena’s life, she might have gone under the radar and manage to live a life undetected, but if we remember Michael (Klaus father) find her, so it’s just a matter of speculation, a possibility, not a sure fact. And that is the difference; Cabe is counting on speculations that trigger guilt, that make your subconscious think you deserve hell. Cabe is not the evil as we know it, but the concept is connected, in the sense of manipulating, twisting of reality for evil purpose. You are just as good as you believe to be, and as bad as you are convinced you are; we are the harshest judge of ourselves and sometimes we are giving ourselves hell, because we are very little incline to be kind and forging with ourselves. And that is precisely on what Cabe count on, to have power on people. You have to agree to serve Cabe, YOU have to agree that YOU deserve a miserable life because YOU know you, deserve hell, it is all about your conviction, your evaluation of yourself. That is why Damon that has very little good self evaluation has being an easy prey. And that is why Celine believe there is the possibility of redemption, chance that Cabe doesn’t give you because, there is no necessity for it, since it is in the nature of human being to be subconsciously, once you have done something bad to be the first one to be unforgiving, even if consciously we seek redeempton. That is the theme now, what we think we deserve, deeply and how to learn to forgive yourself for your past mistakes, to take responsibility for how much darkness you allow to be part of your life and if after you bitterly regret it, giving yourself a chance to be good again,fodamentally humans are good. Lean forgiveness to others and ourseves it is a big challenge for everybody, Matt, Alaric, Stefan, but a mighty big one for Damon that more than anybody has learn to love himself, yet. In this universe there is no forging God, the judgement if you deserve peace for how you conduct your life doesn’t come from outside, it comes from deep inside yourself. In this universe you are as good as you deeply believe to be and evil has power on you only because you want to, because you are convinced you deserve it. Remeber Lexi, opening her arms and saying with conviction "you'll not have me".
