Not really, the season is by far the deepest most raw and psychologically intriguing of all Buffy seasons.. it feels more grown up for all characters.. as a Spike /Buffy fan here, honeslty it's the hardest for me to watch .. some episodes like seeing red I never rewatch at all... this Spike and Buffy's most conflicting season .. they have 8 episodes of great moments . Then a twisted relationship with tons of chemistry and highlited scenes .. then a fall down that breaks your heart and makes you hate that you love them together .. and finally and ending leaving you itching for S7 ..

Buffy and spike… buffy is all over the place regarding spike because her feelings all over the place, she despises him but then.. she keeps his lighter, and pretends she hasn’t seen it, and I love spike’s face when he accidentally finds it, he’s like girl, WTF 😂😂 I believe too that there’s more to what buffy is showing and saying to spike’s face, he’s just her punching bag, buffy is not in a place to love anyone in a healthy way, because she doesn’t love herself, but doesn’t mean she’s not in love with spike, in the same toxic selfish way that he’s in love with her. And I completely agree with you Sofìe about spike not wanting to hurt buffy, some people make the point that spike is gaslighting buffy to isolate her from her friends, I don’t think we can call that gaslighting in that spike would have to be aware of what he’s doing, yes he’s evil, but still I can’t picture him as a Machiavellian moustache twirling type of villain, he’s just limited by his lack of conscience in his perception of love and genuinely thinks that he’s helping buffy by dragging her down because he thinks that she came back less human, a demon like him and she would be happy if she let herself embrace it.

I love season 6, it’s true it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, you either love it or hate it, but I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far. I can understand why some people don’t though, and I think it’s because this season speaks to a specific audience, people who relates to it, and I think it’s very unique what they’re doing, you don’t see in many shows such a realistic portrayal of depression, going places that are uncomfortable and touching themes that people don’t really want to talk about, and it feels very authentic and earned in that buffy literally died and was ripped out of heaven, and it’s a bold writing choice that they didn’t instantly make it all good but decided to deal with the repercussions and explore one’s mental state after severe trauma, and it makes me love buffy the character even more. Also, fun fact: when buffy is walking out of the office, she is whistling “going through the motions” from the musical episode
