I really appreciate your perception about these characters, which I think is generally spot on. I especially like how you appreciate the true affection between Daemon and Viserys. No matter how problematic Daemon is, I think that is an important part of his character. I also found the exploration of sexuality and the contrasting of the different sexual situations very interesting in this episode. It was widely reported that the Director of this episode was female. And a lot of people commented on the fact that the way the sexual scenes were filmed was much more thru a feminine gaze then Game of Thrones was known for. As the first couple of seasons of Game of Thrones were especially notorious for their gratuitous use of sex. I liked how they first had that conversation between Daemon and Rhaenyra in the castle garden, where he introduced the idea that there is pleasure to be found in sex when she brought up her fear of the danger of childbirth because of her mother. I think that led to her ultimately wanting to explore her sexuality with Criston after Daemon ran out on her. People have suggested various reasons for why Daemon didn’t go through with sex with Rhaenyra. In the behind the scenes video for this episode they talked about Daemon wanting to be in control in a sexual situation and Rhaenyra’s eager participation scared him off. So I think you picked up on that correctly. The additional contrast of Rhaenyra learning about the pleasure of sex, while Allicent has a passionless relationship with Viserys for the primary purpose of producing heirs, demonstrates their very different situations. I did enjoy Viserys’ reactions in this episode. He didn’t seem at all bothered by the idea that Rhaenyra might visit a brothel, just the damage it might do to her reputation if people thought she was doing something inappropriate for the Princess and heir. I don’t think that Viserys was trying to insinuate that Otto had anything to do with the death of his father. But I do think that the way they wrote that dialogue makes it easy to think that might have been what they were going for. I think he was actually pondering how chance and circumstances had allowed Otto to rise to such a high station in a very short period of time. And while Viserys did appreciate how Otto had served his grandfather and himself, he now recognized how much Otto was also serving his own self interest. Finally, I really enjoy when the creators throw the book readers, and people who love all the details of the lore a nod. I’m referring to the opening scene in Storm’s End. The two young men who end up in a sword fight are from rivals houses, the Blackwoods and the Brackens. The feud between these two houses is centuries old. I expect that we will see the Blackwoods again in a future season!

For a second, when I saw the photo, I thought you might be doing a Doctor Who reaction.

I didnt fully get why i shipped Daemyra so much too and hates the lannister twins together. Yes, Rhaenyra definitely is hurt by Daemons rejection. I do believe he stopped it bcuz he couldn't do that to her but definitely wants her and has a special connection & chemistry with Rhaenyra. Visery should of just bethrothed them from the begining & made them the heirs. Notice how Rhaenyra changes her necklace after Daemon's rejection, she still clearly would prefer to be with Daemon above anyone else though. Criston was just her 2nd choice & fun.

There is definitely a lot to say here…The elephant on the screen that we noticed before but is obvious here is that this show really holds back no punches for the sensitivities of our modern taboos, which is very genuine and I command them for doing that in a certain sense. At the risk of sounding like a broken record Daemon truly is a very complex and perplexing characters with very vague motives that are not even entirely clear to the audience- which is why I only frame what I think he is doing as my opinions which I think is the only genuine way of doing so. It slightly aggravates me when there are many interpretations but people ‘claim to know the definitive one’. For one I don’t ascent to the characterization of Rhaenyra being an innocent victim or bystandard of this whole ordeal…Or saying she is manipulated Just because she’s younger- and of age btw- Much like Viserys said, and like the parallels between her and Daemon suggest both of them are very much two sides of the same coin in wild character and temperament in their own ways. On Daemon’s part (in my opinion) it is also clear that his motivations towards her are not just manipulation here- sure it is plausible that she is a good way for him to establish himself near the throne, but there is also a clear and strong bond between the two of them-(if you don’t want to call it love)- you can see it in the way where neither of them are as comfortable and genuine around other people as they are when talking to one another. This did a great job at 'like you said' compare and contrast what 'usual sex' would look like in their world ie. an old dude who married a 14 year old decrepit and ugly, making children out of her....And contrasting that to our biggest taboo(incest) presented contrasted here in a way of a young girl exploring her sexuality consensually in a way that is uncommon but somehow less objectionable (or at least not as unappealing for the parties involved) ....Again that is to me and my interpretations, as fan of Daemon and Rhaenyra who really represent Fire and Blood to me…And sorry for all of the people who the incest thing troubles you- but it’s part of the show-and btw for good or ill it's also very much a historical part of monarchy in the world and the fictions that draw their inspiration from it in this instance... at some point you just gotta roll with the punches lol In a world where 8 year olds marry 60 year old dudes, women are passed over like property and people murder each other constantly- The fact that Rhaenyra has the hots for her uncle(which who blames her)-really is not the biggest outrage for me lol

Daemon Targaryen walking in the Throne room like that veteran of a war freaking victorious and crowned…Lowkey has me questioning my sexuality 😅😅😅
