Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

Comments

The link for this one just keeps taking me to a page that says something went wrong. It shows the video for about a second, then flips to the error page.

Takes a little while to sync after a STOP-START for your comments. I realize that it's timely to say something and react in the moment rather than trying to remember to comment after the movie is over. I found that the white-out of the playback film is hard to see and I relied more on seeing the captions to get my Disney+ copy back in sync with your reaction video.

This was so fun! I'm a casual Star Wars fan but it was great to see how excited you were and made me remember what a joy these can be. Now I'm excited to rewatch them with you!

After all the spinoffs and sequels and prequels and books and comics and video games and all the controversy and all of that, sometimes you just gotta go back and remember...... it's a really good movie.

^^ good advice

Even though the current version you watched on DisneyPlus has tons of "upgrades" that George Lucas made over the years, I assure you the movie was mind-blowing in 1977. The opening sequence is original as well as the cantina scene (well, except for the Han shoots first controversy). All those creatures were practical. The upgrades are mostly the creatures outside in Mos Eisley and the addition of more "extras" in the background, flying droids, etc. Some of the end space battle was augmented with new VFX and Jabba never appeared in the original theatrical release. That scene was added back in and the original Jabba (who was human) was replaced with the CGI one. As for the sound, most theaters were ill-equipped to deliver the amazing soundtrack which led to the development of the Lucasfilm THX standard which is still used to this day. Star Wars is mostly responsible for the move from monaural under-powered sound in theaters to the modern audio experience that audiences expect today.

Fun fact: Harrison Ford would also refer to Mark Hamill as "kid" in real life.

Tunisia is where the desert planet scenes were filmed. Fun reaction. I like seeing this through fresh eyes like how often Han calls Luke - “kid”

There is a saying ," The aim of Storm Trooper " which means poor aim. They can blast and blast and not hit any of the good guys! I used to have a 1000 piece puzzle of the very last scene of this movie, after they get their medals 🏅 from Princess Leia! I know I still have it. It's just a matter of remembering where I put it! I ❤️ this movie 🎬! Thanks for reacting to it, SoFie!

Its cut so you can sync 💜

No wayyyy Star Wars I wasn’t expecting this movie reaction at all. Is the sound of the movie cut for everyone or just me ?

xbowalex

ALSO lol sorry for commenting so much but im super excited for you to see lightsaber fights in the future...they get SO much better 💜

Alyssa Dyson

100% same for me 💜

I agree. Release order is the best order to watch these in. The original Star Wars trilogy has been familiar to me for so long that I can't remember a time in my life where I didn't know the characters, the plot, and the overall magic that holds these films together. Stars Wars is for my childhood what Buffy and Angel are for my young adulthood.

Also you're doing a great job with the sync....only thing Id say is when you start and pause when you say 3,2,1 maybe you could be a bit slower but thats just me nit picking lol 💜

Alyssa Dyson

So happy you're getting into this franchise! Only advice id give is Please watch in release order. 💜
