Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Comments

Seen this movie a million times and the first few seasons of GoT several times as well, yet I never noticed that General Veers = Grand Maester Pycelle. What a catch.

Zat

Sophie, it’s impressive. You can pick out grand Meister pycelle. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Lost sync with your reaction video more than an hour into "Empire". With no accompanying blurred film window or time stamp I wasn't able to re-sync with my Disney+ stream of the movie... Could you please include a blurred running copy of the film with your reaction for future movies? Don't need to include audio, just blurred video of the film.

Yoda's last name is Finkleheim but he dropped it for artistic purposes after university. Yoda is voiced by Frank Oz. Many people grew up hearing his voice of some of the characters on "Sesame Street" and "The Muppet Show". He is also a film director, "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1988) and an actor (the estate attorney in "Knives Out" in 2019).

Any chance for the remainder movies to raise the volume? It would make it easier to follow

Razzer95

It's a PG-rated movie, so they can't show any blood.

Kevin Karst

"why is he not bleeding???" I always assumed it was because the sabers are so hot it cauterizes the wound? Or it could just be the lack of practical effects who knows lmao

Sorry, can't resist... "It is a time of unrest and of paragraphs floating through space..." :D This movie was released on 1980, A New Hope was 1977.

IMO this is the best STAR WARS movie and only ep4 comes close to it. Yoda might say, "mmmMMMmmm... Off a cliff it went, yes! Know what they were doing they did not! mmmMMMmmm...""

Julian Glover has had a long LONG career. The roles I know of: he is also Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; and he plays an alien in an excellent 17th 'season' episode of Doctor Who called City of Death, with Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor (4th of now 14 (holy shit!) Doctors). 1963-1985 and 2005 to present pretty good for a low(lower)-budget sci-fi TV show eh? Sorry I went on a tangent lol.

MertzRocks

“Who’s yoda?” “What’s his last name??” Lmao 🤣 I’m loving that you really don’t know much about this franchise. It makes these reactions so much fun 💜💜

Ah the iconic "no, I am your father." Love that your reaction to the Imperial March (Vader's theme music) was the same as mine. Just constant evil coolness. This is imo the best Vader movie. He's just so unhinged the whole time and then propositioning Luke to overthrow the Emperor. When you said Ben told Luke that Vader killed Luke's father. Wait until you hear the condescending ass explanation for that! Lando is a really cool addition. He brings some of the old Han conflicted/selfish attitude back into the group.

Some fun facts: 1. The actor who plays Luke (Mark Hamill) was in a car crash before they shot the movie. His face got rather badly injured, so they decided to write the scene with the Wampa (the ice planet monster) to explain his visible scars. 2. Leia calls Han a "nerf herder" (whatever that may be ...), which later became the name of the band who made the Buffy theme song. 3. Yoda only has one name, like Madonna or Cher. 4. Why is Luke not bleeding, you ask? The nerd explanation: lightsabres immediately cauterize wounds. The real explanation: This is a PG-rated movie, so they can't show blood. 5. Yes, that guy is indeed Grand Maester Pycelle, or Julian Glover, to be exact. I must admit I had to look it up, I would never have recognized him, even though I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan. Well spotted! :-)

The requests to have Luke use the force faster and to know Yoda's last name had me in stitches - can't wait to watch the rest of this tomorrow
