House Of The Dragon 2x08♡Uncut Reaction &Review ♡

Comments

they are not whitewashing anyone tho. The book does not have much about details and character motivations. They have been given more layers, yes, but even in the book they are shown as villains. Aegon has been provided with a ton of layers and nuances.

Ashish

The fact is the show is whitewashing the greens. In the book Aegon threw a party in celebrations of Luke death. And that is only one example of how the whitewashed Aegon.

SajonaraHitori

i am sorry but a lot of osiołek have fucked up childhood in this show and unloving parents but not everyone ends up a rapist

SajonaraHitori

I love complex characters but I don’t have to love ALL complex characters

Madison

Sofie) i just watched the haunting of hill house to watch your reaction))) and it’s really worth it

Vall

It is called having a nuance complex character. It is not about making him like you. Why wouldn't he call himself that when he wants that love people and his father had for Rhaenyra? I am sorry, but do you really hate complex characters?

Ashish

Aegon Targaryen they could never make me like you no matter how badly cripple and broken he is and making him seem now as this young man who was just trying to be a good king, who cares about the smallfolk and loved his son when just weeks ago he was raping servant girls and watching his bastard children fight in those disgusting fighting pits and be treated like animals and also calling himself “the realm’s delight” eww no 🤢

Madison

I do not think the showrunners are biased toward Rhaenyra at all. They have shown her making terrible decisions, show recklessness and then sacrifice a bunch of people in what she believes. That is not whitewashing someone. She is a good mother, yes, but she has brought in people who are a threat to her son's future inheritance. The book does this too, it has shown Greens in worse light. Daemon has been shown to be a terrible person but he has layers and so does character like Aemond and Aegon. It is not one sided, and giving the example of GoT is kinda rough since they had Lannisters as villains and Starks as heroes, this show does not have that.

Ashish

@Namikaza you are absolutely correct that vision is not the only thing, i just said that to make my point about the dreams and how they manipulate you

Many

The last vision is not the reason why Daemon is on Rhaenyra's side. He was never not on her side. He never was against her. The problem was always that Daemon and Rhaenyra saw this whole situation from a different angle. Daemon wanted to attack but Rhaenyra held back because of some story, same as Viserys. Both of them learned throug this season that the other one has some valid points. And the whole point of Daemon's hallucinations was for him to learn why Viserys gave the crown to Rhaenyra and not him. Daemon has always run away from his feelings and the people he loves, but this time he had to face his deepest insecurities and regrets. He finally had time to grieve for Viserys, and when Viserys offered him the crown, he didn't take it. Alys even said he was now ready to see the final vision. Daemon understands now that there are things in this world bigger and older than him and what he believes in. Viserys and Rhaenyra have only heard the story but Daemon has actually seen it. Daemon is finally part of this inner circle. Daemon and Rhaenyra are finally on the same wavelength. And Daemon understands his place is not on the throne but he is the power behind the crown and at the end of the day, that's all he ever wanted.

I think Alicent had already let go of Aemond, especielly after suspecting he might have something to do with what happened to Aegon and then preassuring Helaena. She thinks he will go down fighting no matter what and she can't see a way out for him now that Rhaenyra has so many dragons. She did probably hope that she could convince Rhaenyra to spare Aegon, I think she feels bad for him since he was practically forced to take the Throne. But he also did some bad choices for himself that put him where he is now. And Rhaenyra is right, if she is gonna hold any respect as a ruler she can't let Aegon live after declaring himself king. That would undermine her authority and open up for endless attempts to overthrow her. But Daeron and Helaena could probably be spared since they haven't really participated in the war. So Aegon is really the big sacrifice for Alicent. If she believes she can spare the "innocent" kids it makes a little bit more sense that she would agree to give him up.

Apparently writers wrote a 10 episode script for this season but suddenly HBO dropped a bomb on them that they can't give them all the budget they needed and this happened before the writer's strike so they couldn't make another script for 8 episode as it would have delayed the show for another year so they decided to cut down the last two episode without changing the other 8 episode which are supposed to have two of the most important battle's in dance of the dragon but the good news is that we might get a battle in the first episode of season 3

Many

when Rhaenyra says the history will paint you villain she was right every one started to hate Alicent after this episode and i thinks it is the writers intentions Alicent has never been a good mother because she really doesn't how to be one, she was forced to play the queen by Otto and she forced her son upon the throne even though he was not ready for it or even trained him for this, and now she think she already lost her sons, Aemond and Aegon can't be controlled by her so they are gonna go to battle probably lose and die She also has not been a mother to Dareon and she already said it was her lack of mothering that created Aegon and Aemond so she wants to distant herself from him so Dareon wouldn't become someone like Aegon and Aemond So the only thing that she has not already lost is her daughter and she is the only one that she can save at this point it does not mean you should like what she is doing but i thought this might make you understand her character

Many

Aegon is by far the best character this season, and most well written

Vall

Who are your fav characters?

Vall

You are not crazy she probably jumped into Damon's dream to talk to him the three eyed raved that you saw was Brandon Rivers in his early days, he is known as one of the important people who have shaped the direction of Targaryen bloodline so that prince that was promised would be born, he was hand of the king to Aegon the fifth and when banished to the Wall, one day he goes beyond the Wall and disappears until 50 years later when Bran Stark will meet him as the Three Eyed Raven which we saw him in game of thrones in his old days Dreams in world of song of ice and fire designed to be ambiguous and open to interpolations so in the dream that Damon saw when we see a girl with three dragons, we see Danni but it might not be necessarily what Damon see, Damon might think that she is his daughter with Rhaenyra or Rhaenyra herself even and she is going to be the prince that was promised. Truth is every Targaryen king that hears about this Aegons dream they always think they are the promised prince or the threat from the north might come in their life time and it could be the same with Damon thats why he is in a rush to be at Rhaenyra's side, who knows what he would do if he knew the threat actually comes in 150 years, in here this dream manipulates Damon into thinking that threat comes in his life time so that he would do what the dream tell him to do

Even though a lot of people complain about this end of the season because they would rather see battles and blood in every episode, personally, I love it. I appreciate the dialogues, messages, etc. I particularly like the last minutes. Rhaenyra is now a prisoner of her queenly duties and responsibilities and Alicent finally feels free and herself. Concerning Aegon, I don't really care about him. His current state is his own fault. He decided to get drunk (as usual) and go to the battlefield even though he and his dragon have no combat experience and almost ruined the planned plan. . And I don't feel any sympathy for him. The fact of not receiving the parental attention and love that he is supposed to receive does not excuse his behavior, his personality and his actions. He is just an alcoholic, immature, arrogant who, when he is contradicted, only repeats "I am the King", who rapes the servants and enjoys seeing his own bastards participate in deadly child fights. He has no consideration for his family, apart from his late son. He has humiliated his brother for years, does not care about his sister and wife nor his other child, fires and banishes his own grandfather I love the exchange between Rhaenyra and Alicent. Alicent's life has always been directed by the duties and men around her. Her own father sold her as soon as he had the chance and had no consideration for her. He didn't care nor did she lose her best friend in the process. I would have liked their friendship to be shown more in the first season, before it broke up. After all, they were friends during their childhood and adolescence. I would love to see some reconciliation between them, however small.

I think this show's characters and relationships lack in emotional depth when compared to game of thrones, more so in this season than in season one. I still enjoy it a lot but the characters don't feel as real or fleshed out to me.

Ashley

You can absolutely blame her. She and her father put him in this position. Aegon is not my favourite but his family absolutely ruined his life. From team green he is the only one I root for (even if it's just a little bit). And of course Heleana, she did nothing wrong. Alicent disgusts me, the least she could do is stick to her choices and stand by her family.

Great watching your reactions to this season alongside us Sofie! Hopefully the wait for season 3 won’t be too bad since next year we get the next GoT spinoff show: “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”. They already put out a first look teaser of that :-)

Ariel17

Cant blame Alicent for giving up Aegon. If Aegon is left alive there will always be a challenge to Rhaenyra's throne, the war will never end. Even if she lets him live, many of the lords would still want Aegon as king hence why she said she needs to take his head for everyone to see.
