The way I interpreted the writing on the walls and Nell haunting herself was the possibility that time isn't linear after you've passed.

2024-09-25 08:05:36 +0000 UTCNow that you know she died by her neck snapping, think back to Luke's episode. He woke up that morning with a crick in his neck. It bothered him a few times throughout the day. He even remarked that he must have slept in a bad position to cause it.

They manifest as a symbol. So it's fun to go throughout the show and guess what is real and what can be explained through logic.

2024-09-18 16:50:26 +0000 UTCWhen you look at the bent neck lady as a symbol of depression, the same way the top hat man is a symbol for Luke's addiction, the lines Nellie is saying just break you. "I hadn't seen her since Arthur and I met. I started seeing her when I was a kid... Then he came into my life and she went away, and she killed him" Yeah I bawled the whole scene. It made me realize Hill House was never the thing she was truly blaming
